This article applies to the Dodge Ram (1994-present).

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) maintains a traceable record of your vehicle's history, including its country of origin, the incredible options that you've paid big bucks to enjoy, and all of those maintenance and repair services that you've had performed over regular intervals throughout the years to ensure your truck would remain a "monster" on the road for the longest period of time possible. All of this information makes selling your truck down the road that much easier. And the same is true for when you are in the market for a used Dodge Ram. This handy, easy-to-locate, number keeps everyone in the vehicle buying process honest, and, best of all, it gives you a reason to keep up with your maintenance schedule through the years.

Essential Information

Finding the VIN

Your VIN is easy to spot. Pull open the door and take a look inside the door jamb. There you will see the 17-character number stamped directly to your vehicle in black ink. Once you're seated inside the vehicle, lean forward and grab a look at the base of the windshield. This is the second location for your VIN. Both VIN locations provide the same 17-character number.
