There Aren't Many of These 1966 Hemi Coronet 500 Models Around

Inaugural Year

The Hemi Coronet 500 pictured above is going up for auction and believed to have just 14,000 miles on the clock. This is a 1966 model the first year for Street Hemi production.

Drivetrain

Something very special sits under this Coronet's hood: a 426 ci Hemi V8 engine. This unit pumps out a tire-shredding 490 lb.-ft of torque and 425 horsepower. An 8 3/4 differential helps get all this power to the road in a somewhat controlled fashion.

Numbers

This is one of just 340 Coronet 500 Hardtops made with a Hemi V8 engine. So you're unlikely to see many of these models, especially one in this condition.

Handling

Hiding amidst this model's unibody construction is torsion bar suspension. It should help when unleashing the car's 425 horsepower while coming out of a bend.

Interior

This model's Blue interior with its bucket seats, center console, and transistorized AM radio is in extremely good condition for a 54-year-old car.

Exterior

With its Blue stripe tires and full-size wheel covers, this Coronet 500 looks fantastic from the ground up. Its Dark Blue paint job is also in excellent condition.

Engine Specs

As you'd expect, this engine has hemispherical combustion chambers and dual 4-barrel carburetors. All of the engine's power is sent through a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. The car also comes with two build sheets included in the sale.
