Officially Collectable

At the time of debut, the first generation Dodge Viper turned the sports car market on its head with its unbridled power and emotional design. Stands the reason why examples like this one over at Hagerty.com as well as the rest of the 1996-2002 GTS line are becoming more collectable each year.

Design Purity

In side view, we see the purity of the Viper's design through the iconic gesture seen just in front of the door and cascading over the rear section. Unlike any other vehicle out, these swooping motions put the Viper on the map of the sports car market in the early 90's and remain timeless even today.

Raw Power

The unbridled power of the Viper's naturally aspirated motor was sent directly to its monstrous rear tires. Without the addition of drivers aids or airbags, the Viper quickly earned a reputation for being extremely raw and often more car than most drivers could handle.

Legendary Development

The Viper's 400-horsepower V-10 was famously developed in conjunction with Lamborghini. With just 3300 pounds to carry, the Viper quickly became a performance heavyweight the second it hit the streets.

Homage to the Greats

There is special homage in the Viper paid to performance greats such as the Shelby Daytona Coupe. The gorgeous proportions are design inspired and small details like these are a hat tip to details like that of the Shelby.

Racing Pedigree

The Viper was not only a looker, but also a competitive race car. Throughout the mid 90's and into the early 2000's, the GTS scored wins from the SCCA to Le Mans and Nurburgring making the GTS only increase in value in today's market.

Destined for Automotive History

With a competitive race history and earth pounding performance, perhaps any car as such would be a prized addition to an ultimate garage. Arguably for the Viper, it's the revolutionary design, dramatic proportions, and raw attitude that comes from the unadulterated V-10 that are making it such a collectible today.
