The 2018 SRT Dodge Durango (Photos)

The 2018 SRT Durango is the perfect SUV to fit all of the family, thanks to its third-row seating. However, when the kids are asleep, the nearly 500-horsepower monster is no stranger to trouble.

1. SRT

The SRT, Street and Racing Technology, is a group within the Fiat-Chrysler company. The department started in the 1950s when a team of Dodge engineers were assigned a unique task: producing great amounts of power from existing engines. The team's first accomplishment was inventing an intake manifold that has long-tube intake runners, which was the first step in turning any Dodge vehicle into an absolute monster. Thanks to the first initial team, soccer moms can now enjoy quarter-miles when the kids are off at summer camp.

2. Interior

Even though the SRT Durango is an absolute beast, it's is a pleasure to be in. The 2018 SRT Dodge Durango is strictly a six-passenger vehicle, with two seats in the front, two in the middle, and two in the rear. Accessing the third-row seating is considered to be the easiest of its class. The cabin features fine stitching all around, and even though the Durango has trouble written all over it, it is quite elegant inside. Standard in the 2018 Durango is the popular 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system. The SRT comes with some perks, however, like the TFT screen, which shows more performance gauges, as well as a maximum speed of 180 mph. Whether you're taking the kids to school or you're feeling wild, this interior will keep you comfortable in all driving aspects.

3. Exterior

The exterior of the SRT Durango doesn't exactly compare to SUVs in its class; this one is a bit wild. The fenders are wider than your average Durango, which covers a set of 20-inch wheels. The hood is also something that you wouldn't find on a mini-van, thanks to the air vents and the heat extractors, which make it look like a six-seater Charger. The entire shell of the Durango is quite aggressive, and the front is not an indicator of how this SUV looks inside; this grille looks vicious, especially with the SRT badge.

4. Engine and Performance

Your kids don't need to know what's under your SRT Durango's hood, but you will be more than satisfied to be in control of such powerful motor. Powering the Durango is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, which develops a whopping 475-horsepower at 6,000 RPM, as well as 470-pound feet of torque at 4,300 RPM. Although it is not certified yet, the SRT Durango should be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.4-seconds, which means you'll never be late for soccer practice ever again, that is if you bought the Durango as your family car. If you choose this car because of its power, looks, or comfort, you will not be disappointed, even if you never fill the other five seats.

5. Release Date and Price

It is quite difficult to talk competition when it comes to the SRT Durango, simply because there are none. If you're comparing it to similar SUVs with the same room and space, you'd compare it to the Honda Pilot, Chevrolet Traverse, or the Ford Explorer, but you won't see them through the cloud of smoke you will leave them in; and if you want to compare it to vehicles with similar performance, you would have to compare it to something like the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLS63, which is approximately $55,000 more. The 2018 SRT Durango should have a starting price tag of $70,000, and if you're also anticipating its release date, you can expect it at your dealership in the last quarter of 2017. This is the definition of an SUV that can do it all.
