Shaq's Custom-Built Dodge Charger Hellcat Is Being Auctioned
A heavily customized Dodge Charger once owned by Shaquille O’Neal is now up for grabs, offering a unique glimpse into the NBA legend’s bold automotive tastes.
A Custom Beast Tailored for a Giant
Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal once took ownership of a very special machine: a 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, later dubbed the "Shaqcat." This wasn't just a factory-built super sedan — it was thoroughly reworked to meet Shaq's larger-than-life standards. Only three "Shaqcats" were ever produced, each modified by Forbes Performance specifically for O’Neal, whose towering 7'1" frame required careful customization.
Serious Power Gains Over Stock
While the stock Charger Redeye already produced an impressive 717 horsepower (534 kW), that figure apparently fell short of Shaq’s expectations. The "Shaqcat" benefits from tuning work by Forbes Performance and Duster Hoff Racing, resulting in a final output of 900 horsepower (671 kW). Standard performance features like Brembo brakes, adaptive dampers, line lock, and launch control remain intact, ensuring the car remains usable despite the massive power boost.
Lights, Carbon, and Signature Wheels
The "Shaqcat" wears a Smoke Show grey paint job that seems understated — until the custom red lighting hidden under the car and within the grille flips on, bathing the carbon fiber accents in a crimson glow. Special 20-inch Signature Performance wheels were created for this car alone, providing a subtle yet unmistakable visual signature.
Customized but Still Everyday Usable
Inside, the Charger largely retains its factory Mopar character but features premium upgrades to reflect Shaq’s tastes. Black Laguna leather seats with Alcantara inserts, white contrast stitching, and a sunroof provide an upscale yet functional cabin. A Harman Kardon 19-speaker sound system rounds out the experience, though for many, the real soundtrack comes from the Hellcat’s supercharged V8 whine.
Low Mileage and Celebrity Provenance
Despite its heavily modified nature and celebrity ownership, the "Shaqcat" has barely seen road time, with just over 4,000 miles on the odometer. The car is now listed for auction at SBX Cars. With its combination of rarity, extreme performance, and Shaquille O'Neal’s name attached to it, the final hammer price is expected to land well above the norm for even a standard Hellcat Redeye.
