Take it to the track

As of late Dodge has been all about that 1,320 feet that turn mere mortals into legends at the strip. Recently, the new R/T Scat Pack 1320 version of the Challenger that is focused on drag racing was announced. How focused is it? Well, Dodge says that the new model will cover those 1,320 feet in a very repeatable 11.7 seconds at just 115 mph. While not as bananas as the Hellcat and Demon this pony car is reportedly the fastest naturally aspirated street legal car available for purchase.

All to help you take flight

Under the hood is an NA 392 Hemi V8 mill rated at 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, with an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The suspension is SRT Adaptive Damping and comes with Drag Mode, Line Lock, TransBrake, Torque Reserve, and 41 spine half-shafts. The car comes with just one seat which will save you 114 pounds of weight although you can elect to get that passenger seat and a rear seat at just a $1 each! The tires are SUR4G Drag Spec that is street legal but specifically designed for max grip and quarter mile racing.

This sounds familiar

If you're experiencing a bit of déjà vu after reading those stats it's because the 1320 package makes the Challenger sort of a sugar-free Demon. What I mean by that is many of the perks in that model made it over to this one save for the 840 horsepower supercharged engine.

Bang for your buck

Exterior changes include a new Super Bee logo and aluminum forged wheels that are finished in Low Gloss Black. Inside, you'll get all the creature comforts you'd expect in a modern vehicle like dual-zone climate control, electric power steering, power driver's seat parking sensors and a backup camera. Through the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is how you'll access the digital assists.  This car is Dodge's cheapest drag racer so far with the 1320 package adding just $3,995 to the $40,590 MSRP of an auto R/T Scat pack.

Everyday racer

“We created the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 for the heart of the sport, the bracket racer who wants to drive to the track, suit up, go fast, and go home with a big smile and maybe a trophy in the trunk with minimal prep and upkeep,” said the Head of Passenger Car Brands Dodge/SRT/Chrysler/Fiat, Steve Beahm.
