Durango Hellcat Becomes the World's Most Powerful SUV
This Durango can really haul - literally and figuratively.
Grey in color - but red hot in terms of purpose
The paint finish might be wonderfully stealth, but do not allow that to fool you. You are looking at the world's most potent SUV, the Durango SRT Hellcat. As any fan of Chrysler's brand will know, the Hellcat naming convention is reserve for those most powerful models. And this Durango is certainly worthy of it.
Purposeful facade
The front view gives a better clue to what this Durango is all about. Its grille is similar to that of the Dodge Charger sedan and you'll notice slimmer headlights and the lack of foglights - which have been sacrificed to allow for greater engine-cooling airflow.

Track LEDs
Completing the Durango Hellcat SRT's front styling, is the obligatory hood scoop and a splitter, framing the bumper. Both are definitely there for purpose, not style, helping to cool the huge V8 engine and reduce front axle-lift, at speed. The LED headlamp pattern is also configured differently to other Durangos.

Big spoiler at the rear
Around the rear, this Durango SRT Hellcat has a comprehensively illuminating taillight set-up. There is also a roof section spoiler, which is completely functional. Dodge engineers claim that the Durango SRT Hellcat's spoiler generates 400lb of downforce, at 180mph, ensuring that the SUV's rear axle tracks with great stability.

Massively powerful V8
At the heart of this Durango SRT Hellcat, is an amazing evolution of the Chrysler 6.4-liter V8 engine. It uses a 2.4-liter capacity supercharger to adds boost, enabling a peak power output of 710hp, besting all European high-performance SUV rivals. To deal with all that power, the Durango SRT Hellcat's engine has mostly forged internals and a variety of additional cooling measures to ensure charge temperatures are low, despite the enormous energy conversion that takes place below its hood.

Track worthy performance numbers
Rolling special Pirelli Scorpion P-Zero tires, the Durango SRT Hellcat is capable of simply staggering performance. It will confidently run a 180mph top speed, but perhaps most impressive, are the acceleration numbers. This Dodge is capable of 0-60mph in only 3.5 seconds and will run a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds.

Brakes that are up to the task
To keep its performance under control, Dodge engineers fitted the best brakes they could source, from Brembo. The red color is stylish, but these brakes are huge and powerful. Up front, there are 15.8-inch rotors, actuated by six-piston calipers. At the rear, 13.8-inch rotors are activated by two-piston calipers. The results are amazing, with peak braking force enabling 60-0mph deceleration is only 116ft.

Not shy of work - either
This image perhaps symbolizes the broad appeal of Dodge's Durango SRT Hellcat better than any other. It has a huge V8 engine and is capable of supercar-humbling performance, but there is no denying its conventional SUV abilities too. Such as towing. The Durango SRT Hellcat is rated to tow 8700lb, something you could only dream of in a high-performance sedan.
