Crafting a Legacy Tribute

The 2009 Dodge Challenger Petty’s Garage Convertible is an homage to Richard Petty, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans and automotive experts. Commissioned by R.W. “Bob” O’Gorman, President of the Automotive Lift Institute, this vehicle, known as "Legacy by Petty," stands as the second car crafted by Petty’s Garage, a tribute to the unparalleled racing career of Richard Petty.

Custom Artistry

Draped in Petty Blue with Micro-Flec and Hunter’s Night-Glo flames, this Challenger commands attention with its unique design. Airbrush artist Mickey Harris added live custom artwork, enhancing its allure and artistic appeal.

Performance and Engineering

Featuring an Arrington Performance forged 7.0-liter HEMI V8 engine generating 620 horsepower, modifications including a Diablosport Predator tuner and a 6-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter ensure a thrilling driving experience akin to the racetrack.

Integrated Modifications

The convertible conversion by Drop Top Customs, authorized by Dodge, seamlessly integrates with the Challenger’s design. Notable additions include a NASCAR-style rear spoiler, custom LED rear brake light, and functional shaker hood, paying homage to Petty’s racing heritage while enhancing its aesthetic.

Unique Interior

Precision engineering extends to the adjustable coilover suspension, Brembo Gran Turismo brakes, and a distinctive 3.91 gear ratio. Inside, custom Katzkin leather upholstery with snakeskin inserts, a Richard Petty autographed speedometer, and Petty’s Garage badging add to its unique provenance.

Auction

This Challenger has graced prestigious automotive events, captivating audiences across the United States and Canada. As it gears up for auction at Mecum Kissimmee 2024, it represents a living embodiment of racing history, celebrating automotive craftsmanship and innovation with an estimated value between $160,000 and $180,000, a testament to its enduring allure among enthusiasts and collectors.
