1. 1992 Viper RT /10

The Viper was a huge car when it hit the marketplace and was everywhere you looked. It was even the star of a short-lived television series for crying out loud! It's easy to see why the car garnered so much attention back then with its roguish styling, widebody design, and 8 liter V10. The Viper put out 400 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque with early 90's suspension tech to make the Viper a very err enlightening drive. The short list of creature comforts showed enthusiasts that this was a stripped down no nonsense car that was here for only those who only cared about taming the wild Super Snake.

2. 1969 Dart GTS 440

If you haven't heard of this car before don't feel bad. It's not brought up as much as it should be in the pantheon of great muscle cars. The Dart was the car that you could park in your mother-in-law's driveway thinking it's a nice enough car and then tear rubber down the street letting her know what you think of the meat loaf. The 440 designation was to let buyers know that this is the package that puts them at the fringes of street legal in a factory car. 375 horsepower and 480-pound feet of torque which were most likely downrated as the norm with the "Magnum" engine numbers, put the car at 60 mph in 5 seconds.

3. 2006 Charger SRT-8

When Dodge announced that the Charger was returning, images of a certain orange model flying through the air danced in enthusiasts heads around the world. What we got was a 'roided up sedan that made eager Mopar fans turn their heads sideways like a confused dog. When Dodge came forward again and announced that the car would house the iconic Hemi engine, the world rejoiced and eagerly anticipated getting their hands on the car. The Charger put out 425 horsepower and 420-pound feet of torque through a fire breathing V8 that blew burnt tire debris in the face of every other car brand.

4. 1970 Challenger T/A

The T/A is an athlete that goes out to perform in regular street clothes and cleans the floor with the competition. Now, it's not as great of a performance as it would have been if the athlete wasn't held back by street clothes, but it was still an awesome feat. That is the T/A in short. It is the street legal version of the race bread Challenger that could still post quarter mile times in the mid 14-second span.

5. 1969 Coronet Super Bee Six Pack

Engineers are an interesting bunch of people. They experiment and play with different concepts to see various outputs in the course of settling on the best measure. One such experiment resulted in the Super Bee Six Pack Coronet. How so? Well, instead of the standard Carter quad on the 440 Magnum V8, three Holley two-barrels on an Edelbrock manifold to boost the engine output to 390 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque. The car came out with better than normal handling due to the lighter engine and Hemi-grade suspension.

6. 2013 SRT Viper GTS

The Viper returned in 2013 to much fanfare in the automotive community and it was a hell of an "I'm back" statement. 640 horsepower 600-pound feet of torque from a V10 engine drawing air in at an alarming rate to push the car through ridiculous acceleration numbers. Whereas the first Viper was a fearsome car that turned new owners' hair a bit white with fear, this iteration was more of a hot scalpel in the hands of Hannibal Lector. When the super snake roared onto the roads back in 2013, it was the most powerful Dodge car that was ever available.

7. 1970 Charger R/T Hemi

If you were alive in the late 1960's and someone asked what you thought was the current king of cool in the car world you'd most likely respond with the Charger. 1970 was the swan song of the car being the monster that it came to be known as and was presented with great updates. The Magnum engine put out around 500 horsepower, a chrome front bumper loop, and full-width tail lamp housing. There were also some nutty new paint schemes to choose from including "Plum Crazy" and "Panther Pink."

8. 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat

The current benchmark for modern muscle car horsepower is the Hellcat Challenger and Charger. 707 horsepower means you can rest assured at nearly almost any red light and be confident that there won't be another car that can get the jump on you. The car is a love letter to those muscle cars of yesterday that hung so fondly from posters on our bedroom wall and crude school notepad sketches. With fuel restrictions, electric cars on the rise and emission standards to deal with it's great to know that you can still go out and pick up an unapologetic barrel-chested kick in the ass of a car.
