1. Dodge Viper RT/10 (1992-1995)

Due to their low production numbers and incredible performance, you can't really go wrong with any generation of Dodge Viper. But the original Vipers are criminally undervalued and very affordable, with some examples selling in the $20,000 range. You'll have a hard time finding more car for the money anywhere, and we'll probably never see a car like it again. Plus, they're durable, cheap to repair, and still fast - even by today's standards.

2. Dodge Challenger (1971-1972)

Early Dodge Challengers are always a safe bet to remain popular in the muscle car market. 1971 and 1972 models hit all the sweet spots that collectors love, yet values haven't really recovered from the muscle car market crash. That means you can pick them up for relatively affordable prices. And while muscle cars may never reach the levels they did some years ago, there's still plenty of room here to make a profit.

3. Dodge Charger (1968-1970)

Unlike the Challenger, early Dodge Chargers have seen a huge resurgence in popularity in recent years. That has in fact caused prices to go up, but they still aren't anywhere close to their pre-2008 values. This generation of Charger is easily one of the best looking muscle cars ever produced, and their popularity promises to keep values rising for years to come.

4. Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

You might think that buying a new car like the Challenger Hellcat as an investment is crazy. But there are several factors working in the Hellcat's favor. For starters, prices have come way down lately since the initial crazy markups needed to buy one when they first came out. The Hellcat is a limited production car producing some insane numbers, therefore fitting the bill as an instant classic. And a few decades down the road, you can bet people will be seeking them out much like they seek out early Challengers today.

5. Dodge Neon SRT-4

Some will laugh at the notion of a four-cylinder Dodge Neon as ever being a classic or a good investment. But those in the know will understand. That's because the mightiest little Neon, produced between 2003-2005, will blow the doors off plenty of V8 powered muscle cars. And really, the SRT-4 was an instant classic from the day it was produced. It was cheap, simple, and brutally fast - pretty much what you want in a muscle car. Power was underrated at 215 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque, but numbers don't lie. The Neon SRT-4 went 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and completed the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds. And they're still underappreciated and cheap. But for how long?

6. Dodge Challenger Scat Pack

The newest fleet of Scat Pack Challengers is considered by many to be the last true American Muscles cars. In a few years when the 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 is dropped in favor of plug-in hybrid EVs, people will start to really crave these loud monsters.

7. Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye

There's a reason why there are this many Challengers on this list. As mentioned in the previous slide, pure American muscle cars are sadly on their way out. And it as muscle cars go, they don't get any more brutal and totally awesome than the Hellcat Redeye. Watch for Dodge to milk the last few years of their big V8s with even more special editions of the muscle car. So there may be a few more to add to this slideshow in the coming years.
