Slideshow: 6 Reasons Why People Get Into Dodge

Dodge is widespread; their vehicles are everywhere, and with the time they've been around for, a newcomer's got a wealth of options going used or fresh off the lot. But what is it that gets the customers' attention and makes them fans in the first place? We thought we'd go over a few reasons today.

An American Alternative

It's understandable that a lot of people's perception of the US auto industry would center around Ford and their rivalry with General Motors. Dodge is fortunately there to provide a major domestic alternative in many of the relevant markets. Not a fan of the Mustang, but the Camaro and Corvette aren't doing it either? Perhaps the Challenger's up your alley. Likewise, if neither Ford's trucks nor Chevy's can scratch that itch for you, Dodge RAM might do the trick.

Merchants of Power

The American auto industry puts great importance (undue importance, some argue) on the raw power of the vehicle. This is nowhere so apparent as it is with sports car designs. Despite being a relatively "smaller" company in comparison, Dodge has been wiping the proverbial floor with the competition when it comes to raw power. Their Dodge Demon (a 2018 variant on the SRT Challenger) has set a number of records, including being the fastest 0-100 MPH production car in history.

The "Muscle Car Company"

Any fancy for muscle cars is going to come with nostalgia attached. Of the American heavyweights, Dodge's commitment to the classics and that spirit of freewheeling excess work to their favor. Take the Chevy Corvette, for instance, which has gone through major transformations each time the season changes, or the Ford Mustang, which has not-so-subtly tried to exploit the vintage appeal by consciously reintegrating the past into their current models. Dodge's competition have each earned their respective followings, but a strategy like Ford's can't help but feel like a try-hard move compared to Dodge, who stayed the course in tradition all the while.

Convictions and Tradition

That kind of conviction tends to be respected by people. When you add in that longing for the "vintage experience," people are obviously going to feel more taken to the authentic option. Moreover, the "coolness" of American sports cars was always set in stone with the movies. Barring true modern examples (for which we could make another list for the Challenger alone) a vintage throwback like Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof reasserts Dodge's darling as the choice of muscle for the car fanatics who know.

Great Value

Dodge Ram at least owes it to the Ford F-Series for presenting them with a very obvious and direct competitor to be compared against. Perhaps it's unfair to Ram; the F-150 is still the best-selling vehicle for this year going back consecutive decades. That's a hard shell for any competitor to crack, but the Ram 1500 (and the rest of its Ram family) could snag owners on account of the price, which often tends to be a little below what Ford asks for their trucks. It's not a particularly glamorous reason to get into Dodge, but any angle's valid if it gives Dodge the chance to show a new customer why they run with the top dogs.

Anywhere You Go

There is everything in a name. An auto company is more than the vehicles they sell. People aren't long fooled by shoddy craftsmanship (at least as far as their money's concerned) and the quality of a product can't be compensated for by any measure of hype or brand loyalty. Still, Dodge tends to be a name people know and trust well before signing one to their name. A Dodge could be the car a parent taught them to drive in. They might have enjoyed the help of a Ram 1500 at a job site in the past and saw firsthand what one can do. They may have seen the Dodge Demon and felt excited enough to browse the 2018 Challenger lineup, as many reportedly have. These are the passive factors which build up the sort of positive brand association and trust that have kept them around for so long.

Let's not forget either; a happy customer tends to be the sort that returns to buy again.
