The Dodge Raider was considered a captive import SUV and was sold under the Dodge brand of the
Chrysler corporation. Though the Dodge Raider is not all that well known, it was sol from 1987 until 1990, and was built by
Mitsubishi Motors. The Dodge Raider looked familiar to many because it was actually just a rebadged
Mitsubishi Montero. This wouldn't be the last time Dodge and Mitsubishi would see the Raider name.
Though the Mitsubishi Montero was available in both the two door and fouf door body styles, the Dodge Raider was available in just the two door variant. While there was only one choice for the body type, there was more than one engine type. The Dodge Raider featured either a 2.4 litre I4 or a 3.0 litre V6 and that was coupled with either a four speed automatic with overdrive or a five speed manual transmission.
The Dodge Raider experienced limited success in its relatively short run, but many Raider owners were very satisfied with their purchase. While Dodge retired the Raider name after the 1990 model year, Mitsubishi used the name again starting in the 2006 model year.
