The Dodge Power Wagon was first introduced to consumers in 1945 in the form of a four wheel drive pickup truck. The original Power Wagon was produced from 1945 until 1968 and was largely based on a military truck. The Power Wagon is considered to be the inspiration or predecessor to many of the four wheel drive pick up trucks driven and produced today. Starting in the 1970's, the Power Wagon was an option for the Dodge Ram pickup truck. Then, the Power Wagon name went into retirement to be brought back years and years later to the surprise and delight of
Dodge Ram lovers everywhere.
In 2005 the Power Wagon name made a come back. Dodge used the Power Wagon name for a version of the Dodge Ram pickup which is considered somewhat of a special edition. The new Power Wagon is a off road variant of the Dodge Ram. The Power Wagon is equipped with a 5.7 litre Hemi v8 engine with locking front and rear differentials and a disconnectin sway bar, which allows for greater wheel movement and manipulation. The Power Wagon is considered to be the most powerful variant of the Dodge Ram for off road needs.
