Like many others, the Dodge Magnum has been used several times throughout the history of
Dodge automobiles. The most recent Dodge Magnum is in the form of a rear wheel drive station wagon that was revealed to consumers in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The newest Dodge Magnum is notable because it is the first car by Dodge to use the Chrysler LX platform which is also used in the
Chrysler 300 and the
Dodge Charger. In addition to the most recent model, the Dodge Magnum was a name used for a large couple produced from 1978 until 1979 as well as a version of the Plymouth Valiant, and in Mexico the Magnum was a K-car from 1983 until 1990.
The most recent Magnum is arguable the best, and most were impressed by the 2005 station wagon that was released in late 2004. The new Magnum offers three engine variants which are the SE equipped with a 2.7 litre LH V6, the SXT which holds ai 3.5 litre V6, and the RT which is powered by a 5.7 litre Hemi V8. In 2005 the Magnum started to be offered with all wheel drive on the SXT and RT models. The AWD, SXT, and RT models use a five speed automatic transmission while all other variants use the four speed automatic. The Magnum has provided Dodge with great sales, better than the model before it, the Intrepid. Dodge expects to provide a police variant of the Magnum in the very near future which will offer a V6 or a Hemi as an option.
