Default stereo questions

I have a few questions for those that know a thing or two about stereos. I did not get the Boston Acustics package with my Avenger. I am looking at upgrading the door and rear speakers. Does the fatory stereoput out enough watts to power a better quality, higher watt speaker system? I am not looking at adding any subs, just upgrading what is there, and maybe adding tweeters on the door pillars. (or just gettng the type with the tweeters built in the speaker unit) Any advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Default RE: stereo questions

The Boston Acoustics packageadds a 276 watt amp to the systembut I would imagine that you would have enough power to addhigher wattage speakers to the stock radio without issue.

I bought the Boston Acousticspackage andI was very surprised how good it sounded and how much bass it produced. I put a pair of subs in my car because I had purchased them previously to buying the car, but honestly I don't thinkI needed the subs as the bass was good enough to rattle the mirrors with the Boston Acoustics system. I would assume you will have the same results with better speakers than the factory speakers/radio.

TheMyGIGhas a higher output than the stock radio but the stock radiowill definitelybenefit from better speakers. Unless you want volume that makes your ears bleed you should be fine with the power of your current radio but lets say (Worst case scenario) that you bought speakers that were rated way higher in wattage that your current stereo puts out and you were unsatisfied with the volume levels, you can always get a 4 way line level output, and throw in a small 4 channel amp later.

What quality speakers will add to your car versus the stock speakers will be a higher level of clarity, less distortion (esp at high volumes), and increased bass (Depending on which speakers you replace and the quality of those speakers). By having better qualityspeakers it will allow you to turn the volume up higher without making that "eeeww face" cause your stock speakersare distorting from the bass that they were not really designed to handle. You will probably be very surprised at the sound quality difference and increased bass.

As long as you don't get speakers that are rated extremely high in lower end wattage you can expect volume levels that are the same or higher then what you have now. It will likely sound way louder due to the added bass and clarity.

An easy test would be to simply crank your Treble, Mid range, and Bass, thenturn up your radio all the way up for a few seconds. If you are satisfied with thevolume(Not clarity) you will likely be satisfied with the volume levels from the new speakers.

Unfortunately I don't know the wattage of the stockradio off the top of my head and I will have to update this post when I find it. Knowing the wattage will help you make better speaker decisions..
