Default Mopar SEMA Products for 2004:

Las Vegas, Nov 02, 2004 - Chrysler Group’s SkunkWerks team – a group of in-house enthusiasts brought together as part of the company’s growing emphasis on performance, parts, accessories and customization – is at it again.

Made up of designers, engineers, marketers and product planners, the Chrysler Group SkunkWerks team turns their dreams into stunning performance-themed sheet metal, which often results in future directions for performance vehicles and parts. Six new SkunkWerks vehicles are on display this week at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

“The Chrysler Group SkunkWerks team combines the best of engineering discipline with the excitement and pizzazz of the creative process,” said Ralph Gilles – Director, Interior/Exterior Product Design and Specialty Vehicles, and leader of the SkunkWerks team. “The result is a selection of one-off custom vehicles that may be considered dream applications, or test beds, for future vehicle and Mopar Performance parts ideas.”

The annual SEMA show provides a forum for the Chrysler Group to demonstrate its commitment to aspirational vehicles, while stretching the envelope in the area of vehicle customization and personalization.

In addition to SkunkWerks vehicles, which represent Chrysler Group custom vehicles “straight from the factory,” the Company continues to partner with SEMA members to help them create their own “dream applications” of Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles. This year, more than two dozen such vehicles – created by SEMA members in tandem with Chrysler Group’s Image Team – are displayed on the SEMA show floor.

“The purpose is to stretch imaginations and gauge consumer interest,” Gilles said. “We do that through our SkunkWerks interpretations – and those of our SEMA partners who work with our Image Team – pushing the envelope with Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles. At Chrysler Group, our goal is to be the leader in performance and design. Vehicles that we showcase at SEMA demonstrate that we’re doing just that.”

Following are highlights of the six SkunkWerks show cars for the 2004 SEMA show:

Chrysler PT Speedster:
Chrysler PT Cruiser customization reaches new heights with the Chrysler PT Speedster.

Developed by and for true hot rod enthusiasts, the PT Speedster is equipped with a Borla dual exhaust, and generates 235 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, courtesy of the Mopar Performance Parts Stage 1 Turbo Upgrade kit. Four-wheel slotted disc brakes with twin-piston calipers from Stainless Steel Brakes add to the PT Speedster’s performance capability.

The Chrysler PT Speedster’s aggressive stance begins with a lowered suspension, courtesy of a Mopar Performance Stage 2 coilover suspension kit and a Mopar decklid spoiler. Budnik Wheels provided 18-inch custom wheels, which are wrapped in Bridgestone Fusion ZRi P235/40R18 tires. Mopar also contributes a sway bar kit, turbo boost gauge, blow-off valve and Hurst short-throw shifter. Custom floor mats were provided by Falcon Enterprises, and custom badging by Craft Originators.

A unique hood scoop from Quality Metalcrafters adorns the hood, while Katzkin leather seats and custom two-tone Brilliant Black over Viper Red paint adds to the dramatic appearance of the Chrysler PT Speedster.

Chrysler Crossfire Drifter:
Chrysler Crossfire meets the latest motorsports craze.

Powered by a 400-horsepower supercharged version of the 3.2-liter V-6 found in the Chrysler Crossfire SRT6, the ultra-lightweight Chrysler Crossfire Drifter features a variety of “drift-oriented” modifications. Its extreme stance is highlighted by a full body kit that includes a front and rear fascia with integrated ground effects, an air dam, lower rocker panels and a carbon fiber wing. A chopped windshield adds to the dramatic appearance of the Chrysler Crossfire Drifter, while a custom dual exhaust rounds out the performance enhancements.

Inside, Sparco has contributed a shifter, steering wheel, racing seats and pedals. Ultra-light BBS wheels, Michelin competition tires and a special RennTech limited slip rear differential are also included.

The Chrysler Crossfire Drifter is equipped with Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Formula D rules-approved steering, suspension, exhaust and roll cage modifications.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Mojave:
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Mojave is a rugged, trail-rated rock crawler.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Mojave features a modified 5.7-liter HEMI® engine, 22-inch wheels and tires, a matte-black hood and corresponding accents, and a functional “off-road enthusiast bumper” that includes a winch and tow hooks.

Dodge Dakota Warrior H.O.:
Inspired by the highly specialized “pre-runner” desert racing trucks, the Dodge Dakota Warrior H.O. (High Output) delivers what the SkunkWerks team calls the logical evolution of the versatile Dodge Dakota Quad Cab.

Powered by the Dodge Dakota’s 260-horsepower 4.7-liter High Output engine, the Dakota Warrior H.O. represents the ultimate off-road mid-size pickup truck. It features a water-fording intake system, a wider track, front-bumper winch with tow hooks, decoupling sway bars and off-road tires. The interior features two-tone orange and black racing bucket seats from Katzkin.

A hood scoop, wheel flares, custom spare holder, a special tubular tail gate, light bar and sport bar add to the rugged character of the Dodge Dakota Warrior H.O.

Dodge Durango “Dude”:
A Dodge Durango as a hot rod street truck?

The Chrysler Group SkunkWerks team has developed the Dodge Durango “Dude” – powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with a unique pickup configuration off the Dodge Durango platform.

Modifications include a cat-back dual exhaust, lowered suspension, custom front and rear fascias, sill extensions, a composite hood inspired by the Viper-powered Dodge Ram SRT10, 20-inch billet wheels from Budnik, custom seating from Lear and PPG Tangerine Pearl paint.

Dodge "Hot Rod” Magnum:
Developed by engineers from Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) organization, who also happen to moonlight as SkunkWerks members, the Dodge “Hot Rod” Magnum gets an extra dose of performance.

The “Hot Rod” Magnum includes ties to 1970 Chrysler muscle cars, including HEMI Orange paint and graphics from Kustom Haus, a ‘70s blackout hood treatment, 1970 Dodge Challenger exhaust tips and 1970 Dodge Charger HEMI medallions.

A unique interior is highlighted by custom-leather quad seating and a full-length center console with a silver upper surface to match the shifter and center-stack bezels.

Engineers added 22-inch wheels from TIS (Twenty Inches Strong), a Kicker audio system, Bilstein shocks and other SRT suspension and braking enhancements.

Chrysler Group Image Team Vehicles:
In addition to the Chrysler Group SkunkWerks vehicles, dozens of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles developed by SEMA members, in conjunction with the Chrysler Group Image Team, are on display at the 2004 SEMA show. Following is a selection of this year’s Chrysler Image Team vehicles:

Hurst Edition Chrysler 300C:
Performance West partnered with the Chrysler Group Image Team to develop the 2005 Hurst Edition Chrysler 300C.

Dressed in a two-tone pearl white/gold paint scheme, the Hurst Edition Chrysler 300C features a custom grille and hood louvers, and harkens back to an earlier era of Chrysler C-series vehicles, thanks to a new Hurst dual-gate shifter.

With a low-restriction cat-back exhaust, supercharger and intercooler, power in the Hurst Edition Chrysler 300C is boosted to 500 horsepower.

Other modifications include four-piston billet-caliper brakes with 14-inch rotors, a lowered, performance-tuned suspension, 20-inch alloy wheels and a unique audio/video entertainment system.

Ground Force Chrysler Crossfire Speedster:
Ground Force developed its Chrysler Crossfire Speedster with the Chrysler Group Image Team, creating a “1950’s style speedster theme” dressed as a Crossfire.

Featuring a reconstructed rear hatch and unique body cladding, the Ground Force Chrysler Crossfire Speedster incorporates performance parts from a variety of SEMA members.

Power is enhanced thanks to a Green Filter custom cold-air induction system, a RennTech performance computer upgrade and a Billy Boat tri-flow titanium exhaust system. A Motec full-racing data acquisition cluster adds to the speedster theme.

Torra has provided the Green Force Chrysler Crossfire Speedster’s custom 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, as well as custom suede-wrapped race seats, sport steering wheel, leather hood tie-downs, racing harness and carbon fiber dash.

Performance West Dodge Dakota T/A:
Performance West and the Chrysler Group Image Team combined to create the Dodge Dakota T/A.

The starting point was an all-new 2005 Dodge Dakota 4x2 Club Cab, equipped with a 4.7-liter V-8 engine. Power is increased thanks to a Ram Air package and a cat-back dual exhaust. Fourteen-inch slotted rotors improve braking performance, while the Dodge Dakota T/A’s aggressive stance is highlighted thanks to its 20-inch alloy wheels and ZR-rated low-profile tires.

The Performance West Dodge Dakota T/A’s unique appearance is a result of custom Plum Crazy Purple paint, a custom T/A six-pack hood and a Katzkin custom leather interior.

Mopar Daytona Dodge Ram:
Roush Industries partnered with the Chrysler Image Team to develop the Mopar Daytona Dodge Ram.

The Mopar Daytona Dodge Ram features a functional shaker-hood air-induction system and a true dual exhaust system exiting through polished aluminum tips just in front of the rear tires.

A Sublime Green exterior paint scheme with flat black accents and black grille inserts draws immediate attention to the Mopar Daytona Dodge Ram, as does its unique body kit that includes a deep front fascia, body-side cladding and roll pan.

The Mopar Daytona Dodge Ram rides on 22-inch custom-forged, polished-aluminum wheels from Alcoa, which are shod with Pirelli Scorpion Zero 305/40YR/22 tires.

Roush Industries Dodge Magnum:
Roush Industries partnered with the Chrysler Image Team to develop its interpretation of the Dodge Magnum.

Featuring a monochromatic silver paint scheme with matte black accents, the Roush Industries Magnum’s body kit includes custom front and rear fascias, a custom grille, blacked-out side windows and custom “upper-mid” rear wings.

Performance upgrades include larger brakes, dual rear exhaust and a lowered, stiffer suspension.

Purple Rain Dodge Magnum:
While technically not a Chrysler Group SkunkWerks or Image Team vehicle, the SkunkWerks team is recognizing the efforts of a group of students from Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Washtenaw Community College, who developed their own interpretation of the Dodge Magnum. They dubbed it the Purple Rain Dodge Magnum.

The Purple Rain Dodge Magnum, which sports Oasis 22-inch wheels, includes a JL Audio system, handmade billet aluminum grille, custom cold-air induction system, modified Air Ride Technologies air-bag suspension and paint and graphics from Custom Cars and Concepts. It’s on display in Mopar Alley at the SEMA Show.

So, it looks like we still have no bolt-ons for the Hemi. This is really getting depressing.

Default RE: Mopar SEMA Products for 2004:

Enthusiasts Hit the Jackpot as Mopar® Unleashes More HEMI® Options and a Barrage of New, Authentic Performance Parts

* 5.7-liter HEMI® Crate Engine: Drop-in Muscle with "Plug and Play" Convenience

* Complete Lineup of Classic HEMI Crate Engines

* Mopar Stage 3R Turbo Upgrade Generates 310 Horsepower for Dodge SRT4

* Mopar Performance for "Muscle, Street and Speed" Enthusiasts

* New DUB Edition Mopar Parts for Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum

Las Vegas, Nov 02, 2004 -

The HEMI® hits keep coming.

Mopar®, Chrysler Group’s parts and accessories brand, launched an extensive number of authentic Mopar Performance Parts here today at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, led by an all-new 5.7-liter HEMI crate engine, and crate versions of classic HEMI engines from the past.

In addition, Mopar continues to deliver performance upgrades for the growing sport compact segment, including an all-new Mopar Stage 3R Turbo Upgrade Kit for the dominant car in the sports compact car market, the Dodge SRT4. The Stage 3R kit pushes the performance of the Dodge SRT4’s 2.4-liter turbocharged engine to 310 horsepower.

"Mopar’s mission is to deliver authentic performance parts and accessories to the most passionate automotive enthusiasts, allowing them to enhance and personalize their Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles," said Chris Cortez, Senior Vice President, Global Service and Parts.

According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the aftermarket industry generates $29 billion annually, with about $5 billion coming from performance parts and accessories.

"Mopar clearly recognizes the continuing growth of the aftermarket industry - particularly the performance parts and accessories arena," Cortez said. "The performance craze is only going to get bigger, so it’s important that we stay close to all of our customers -- muscle car enthusiasts, racing fans and those enamored with the street scene."

Mopar’s theme - evident in its SEMA display area - is "Muscle, Street and Speed," which describes the three attitudes of Mopar Performance and its enthusiast base of customers.

Following are the most recent additions to the Mopar Performance Parts lineup:

Mopar Performance 5.7-liter HEMI Crate Engine:
Offered in multi-port injection (MPI) and carbureted versions, the Mopar 5.7-liter HEMI crate engine represents the marriage of modern technology to classic Mopar muscle - everything from classic 1960s- and 1970s-era Chrysler muscle cars to late-model Dodge trucks.

Initial construction of the Mopar Performance 5.7-liter HEMI crate engine - which features a cast iron cross-bolted cylinder block with aluminum HEMI twin-plug cylinder heads - takes place at the Saltillo (Mexico) Engine Plant. It is then modified to include an integrated "plug and play" engine controller for easy installation into most vehicles.

The Mopar Performance 5.7-liter HEMI crate engine produces 360 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 360 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 rpm.

Mopar Performance 540 Aluminum HEMI Crate Engine:
For muscle car enthusiasts seeking the biggest and most power available in a crate engine, Mopar delivers the new 540 cubic-inch aluminum HEMI crate engine.

Available carbureted, blown or show-polished, the 540 cubic-inch aluminum crate engine delivers 650 to more than 900 horsepower, depending on engine configuration.

Mopar Performance 528/472/426 HEMI Crate Engines:
First brought to market in 1991, Mopar introduces all-new versions of the classic 426 HEMI, now producing 465 horsepower and 486 lb.-ft. of torque; the 472 HEMI, with 525 horsepower and 540 lb.-ft. of torque; and the massive 528 HEMI, boasting 610 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.

Each of these Mopar HEMI crate engines include all-new components built to original specifications, and are delivered completely assembled, from the intake manifold to the oil pan.

Mopar Performance Dodge SRT4 Stage 3R Turbo Upgrade Kit:
The Dodge SRT4 is the hottest car in the popular sports compact car market. With its Stage 3R Turbo Upgrade Kit, Mopar makes it even hotter.

The 2.4-liter turbocharged engine in the stock Dodge SRT4 generates 230 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. The Mopar Performance Dodge SRT4 Stage 3R Turbo Upgrade Kit boosts power to an unheard of - in this segment - 310 horsepower (with 91 octane fuel) at 5600 rpm and 325 lb.-ft. of torque between 3200 and 4800 rpm.

A 16 percent larger compressor wheel diameter is featured with the kit’s turbo unit, allowing for increased air flow and additional intake air compression. A 19 percent larger turbine wheel diameter increases exhaust flow and reduces back pressure.

When the kit is accompanied by the Mopar Performance Cat-Back Exhaust System and "Turbo Toys" - a package consisting of an intercooler sprayer, "Dial-A-Boost" switch and a high-octane fuel switch - performance is upgraded further to a phenomenal 355 horsepower (with 100-octane fuel) at 5200 rpm and 365 lb.-ft. of torque at 3200-4800 rpm.

Mopar Performance Stage 3R Damper Kit:
Mopar Performance designed its Stage 3R Damper Kit with the serious club sport driver in mind. It features independently adjustable rebound and compression on each damper, while offering drivers their choice of a range of spring rates, depending on the type of road racing or street use.

The Mopar Performance Stage 3R Damper Kit is offered as a set of shock absorbers similar to Mopar’s Stage 2 and Stage 3 systems - but without springs. In order to allow the driver to match the spring rates to the driving situation, Mopar Performance offers a variety of race springs for the Stage 3R kit.

Mopar DUB Edition Performance Parts and Accessories:
Mopar is introducing a new line of Mopar DUB Edition parts and accessories at the 2004 SEMA show. Mopar and DUB have partnered on a number of special edition parts for the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum.

Included in the Mopar DUB Edition parts and accessories are floor mats, a chrome package, sill plates, lowering springs, a three-inch performance exhaust and a special-edition Jacob & Co. diamond-studded clock for the Chrysler 300C.

Mopar Performance Parts are designed and tested by Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) engineers specifically for Chrysler Group vehicles - a claim no aftermarket company can make. All of the testing is done in-house, making Mopar Performance parts the preferred parts for serious street enthusiasts and competitive racers.

Chrysler Crossfire Drifter Concept:

This concept maybe a hint at what we may see on the drifting competitions across the country. After this past year, and the Dodge Viper destroying the field at the competitions, the Viper was banned for the coming year... so this Crossfire SRT-6 concept car, maybe its replacement.

Chrysler 300C Hurst Edition:

Chrysler Group Image Team partnered with Performance West to develop the 2005 Hurst Edition Chrysler 300C. Dressed in a two-tone pearl white/gold paint scheme, the Hurst Edition Chrysler 300C harkens back to an earlier era. The 500-horsepower time machine pushes the Hemi performance with a low-restriction cat-back exhaust, supercharger, and intercooler. Of course, the ‘60s spirit is harnessed with a new Hurst dual-gate shifter. To match the acceleration, the suspension has been modified with Eibach springs, Hotchkis Performance Sport Bars, and 285/35R22 Proxes S/T Toyo tires. To bring these massive wheels to a halt, this 300C boasts Stainless Steel Brakes discs with three-piston calipers.

Chrysler PT Speedster:

Combining class street rodding touches with a modern makover, Chrysler’s SkunkWerks group built this PT Cruiser Convertible to showcase the retro machine’s personalization potential. Thanks to a Mopar Performance Parts Stage 1 Turbo Upgrade kit and Borla dual exhaust, the PT Speedster generates 235 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Handling and appearance are improved with a Mopar Performance Stage 2 coilover suspension kit and 18-inch Budnik wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Fusion ZRi P235/40R18 tires. Mopar also contributes a sway bar kit, turbo boost gauge, blow-off valve, Hurst short-throw shifter, and decklid spoiler. While the scooped hood is a true custom piece hammered out by Quality Metalcrafters, most of the components showcased on the PT Speedster are available through your local Chrysler dealer.

Dodge "Hot Rod" Magnum:

Developed by engineers from Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) organization, who also happen to moonlight as SkunkWerks members, this hot-rodded Magnum brings ’70s magic to the modern, muscle wagon. Clearly, the standout aspect of this car is the Hemi Orange paint and graphics from Kustom Haus, a blackout hood treatment, 1970 Dodge Challenger exhaust tips, and 1970 Dodge Charger Hemi medallions. Its street presence is made more dramatic with 22-inch wheels from TIS (Twenty Inches Strong), Bilstein shocks, and other SRT suspension and braking enhancements. Inside, the four-place show vehicle rocks with a powerful Kicker audio system. Despite the visual bravado, the 5.7L/340-hp Hemi engine remains untouched.
