Driving on a four lane divided boulevard close to 50mph about a block from my house and I hit a racoon about the size of a medium dog. And I live in the city!! Anyways it is dark and I cold not get a good look but it looks like it destroyed the cover under the engine area. I am upset butthe racoon had the worse end of the deal as I felt my rear wheel go over him as well. Hit that thing dead on the center of my car.....no time to do anything. I swear the racoons in the Twin Cities are geting worse than rats.!!

Can you elaborate on what cover it gone? I'm assuming it's the large one underneath that needs to be removed to change oil. If it is the one under the car there's bad news... there isn't a big aftermarket/profit made fromthat stuff so the dealership will be your only resource, good news is it isn't expensive.

Yes it is the cover that needs to be removed when the oil is changed. Any idea of a ballpark price?
It is not daylight here yet, full damage assesment will be done once it is daylight. I am hoping that no actual body damage occurred.

What are the odds....I have NEVER hit a raccoon before. The last time I hit an animal has been well over ten years. It had to happen to the nicest car I have owned....couln't have happend when I am driving my Dakota........%$#@! Nature!! Nah I am kidding. stuff happens and Rocky paid his dues.

Went to a Dodge Dealer in South Saint Paul, MN...they actually had the part in stock.

1. Front Shield part# 04806104AD $40.00
2. Push In Pins (total of 6 @ $2.25ea) $13.50
3. Service Department installed for FREE (got to love that) plus they were very friendly

Total Cost with tax from meeting with Rocky Raccoon = $56.98

So that was a very good estimate Mango.
