My 98 Sport DOHC has 160,XXX and it still pulls like crazy. I've blown 2 trannys and haven't had a single problem with the motor.....yet (knock on wood I don't)

Opps - i was off by 1,527 Miles - I have 19,527 Miles on my 1996 Neon - although I did put a hole thru my block.

Don't get me Wrong - Those are all HARD miles - Banging all the Gears from up to 130+MPH all the way down to 30 or 40 MPH 3 to 6 times a race weekend - I have no complaints - I was having a good race and was running down the 1st place car doing around 130MPH when she blew!

well it has been well tookin care of. been changing the oil when suposed to and i change the trany fluid every 75,000 miles that helps alot.

Udate.. Im up to 126,000 now and since i was last on here ive replaced the water pump and ac compressor (again) and now i have to put a third radiator in the pos.

Check out the aluminum core radiators at www.coolradiator.com . Cheaper than a stock copper core, won't rust, and looks great! That's what I went with for my 3rd radiator (New England winters and salted roads...).

114,000 miles on '98 R/T. Lets see, blew syncros around 40,000, put in a sport trans and now get 40 mpg over about 28 mpg before. Learned that one should use the clutch at least a little when power shifting. :D:D Leaky head gasket at 65,000 (oil from bet. the deck face, TSB, fixed cheaply by dealer, out of warranty) along with timing belt change since it was apart. Battery once, rotors once, pads twice, and forth set of tires. More tires if you count the DOT race tires for auto X. The air doesn't work any more and rear pass. door won't unlock.

Driven hard regularly, and has seen the ignition cut off at 7200 rpm more times than I care to count (it comes back on as rpm drops, if others don't know). No complaints. It has always fired right up even in well below freezing temps.

i have 1 95 sport sohc 5 spd. with 165k, i broke it in for about 1500-2000 miles the rest was balls to the wall. no engine trouble at all just 4 clutches, 5 set of brakes pads front and rear( no drums in the rear for me), countless tires. still running strong but want to go faster so we're dropping in a prepped 2.4l dohc

Bought my 2004 SXT new, and coming up on 41,000 (hard) miles now. A few minor problems, but no major ones (yet).

My 2005 white automatic sxt had like 32000 when i got it and i traded it in for my 2004 gunmetal manual sxt...it has just gotten to 30000....great cars..the 5-speed is much faster but the automatic sounded better...lol...bigger throttle body guess made it sound deeper..

I have an 02 es with 89,000 miles. Doing my best to keep that 100k mark away.

My 2000 neon has almost 160,000 miles on it. I had the freeze plug replaced July 05 and a new clutch/housing etc. this past January. I love this car, I'm just wondering how much longer it might last? Any thoughts? If I decide to trade it in (for a newer model neon, of course!) I need to do it soon.

my dad had204,000 on his 95 sport and it was still running strong, til he crashed it... and i have 137,000 on my 98 r/t and it runs great.

My 01 neon just hit 130k.. not many problems.. and just sarting to mod it.. only had to have basic maintence and the struts done!

Bought my 2000new in September of 1999 and it's about to hit the 117k mark. Girlfriend bought her 2000 about about 4 years ago with 31k and she's pushing 112k now.

I bought my '98 Neon SOHC at 113,0006 months agoand have driven it to 123,000 as of now and beating the **** out of it the whole way and it hasnt missed a beat. I floor it at least once everytime I drive it, Runs Great!. Ikeepit full of oil and coolent and its happier than Jim Nabors with a wheel barrow full of butt holes.

It spanks quad 4's in the high RPMs what more could i ask of it?

Current 98 Neon R/T has just over 140000 Miles or just over 223000km for the canadians like me out there. Abused most of it. Still drives like new other than the powerplant needing some attention (head gasket, rear main gasket and a clutch)

Ok guys this is my firts post here as I am a new member!!! I just bought a 95 Plymouth Neon Sport (SOHC) last week for a daily driver (100+ miles daily). It has 87,000 miles and I hope to get a whole lot more out of it!!!!!! I gotta say thanks to the board for the help I have allready received. I was having the speedo problems 4 days after I bought it and thought I was going to have to get a speed sensor and put in, but thanks to you guys I found out that I just needed to do some soldering on the instriment cluster (works great now by the way). So, again, thanks to the board for the help!!!

Ive owned 4 neons and they all had over 100,000. The one with the most miles on its original engine is the one I have now. A 96 4dr SOHC with 135,000. The others were 95s. The first one left right at 100,000 to live with someone else, the next one blew an engine at around 150,000, and had it replaced with one that had around 90,000 mile on it. Drove that one for about another 20,000 miles before I picked up another 95 and started to cannibalize the two of them together as they started to nickel and dime me. The higher mileage of the two ended up being the parts car and I drove the last 95 until it had around 124,000 and swatted a deer with it.

On my old 95 neon (the one i owned before the one i have now) i had 178000 and it was going good but everything was falling apart except the engine and tranny

I have a 2000 neon with 174k, it has been a gem for the most part, never had any of the common problems except the leak in the trunk which I fixed with cylicone. Other than regular maintenance and regular oil changes it has always started with one turn of the key. Just did a big overhaul and hopefully ready to get to well beyond 200k and hopefully towards 300k.

my 99 has like 130,xxx on the metter, but only has about 11,xxx :D had a less used engine put in from a junk yard,befor ei got it from previous owners.they replace like evrything then just sold it..... got it cheap

Only major complaint I have is the paint.

My first 95 Neon has just over 260,000 miles. I bought it delivered for $100 (thus my ID). It had a blown head gasket, locked up rear brake, and rear struts that were worn out. It had 203,000 when I bought it. Its been good but is going to be replaced by my latest 95 with 122,000 miles. I paid $165 for this one, body is great but brakes don't work. I'll scrap mine when I'm done and maybe get $100 for salvage.
