First Place:
Nissan Titan King Cab
The Titan wins because it has ample acceleration and power, an amazingly carlike ride for such a large vehicle and some unique, thoughtful features that make this truck especially versatile.

Tops among the latter are backseat doors that fold virtually flat against the Titan's cargo bed instead of stopping halfway, as on other trucks. If you've ever been boxed between the open front and rear doors on other trucks in a crowded parking lot, you'll love this feature. The Titan also has a cubby built into the outside rear wall of the cargo bed for hauling wet or dirty items.

The Titan boasts a standard 5.6-liter, 32-valve, dual-overhead-cam V-8 that cranks out 305 hp and 379 pound-feet of torque (a measure of low-gear pulling power that pickup drivers highly value). A five-speed automatic transmission is standard. Ride and handling are very smooth.

On the safety front, the Titan has an optional rear-sensor system that beeps when you're about to back into something, and optional side-curtain airbags. Because many full-size-pickup buyers are tradition-minded, Nissan is targeting the "modern truck guy," a suburbanite who commutes in the truck during the week and hauls a boat or horse trailer on weekends. Nissan hasn't yet priced the Titan, but expect it to be competitive with upscale versions of the F-150. The truck also comes in a Crew Cab version, with four full-size doors but a shorter cargo bed

Fourth Place:
Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab
The optional Hemi Magnum 16-valve, 5.7-liter V-8 is the most powerful engine in its class. A five-speed automatic comes with the big engine.

The 1500 Quad Cab is the only truck of this bunch with four full doors. That's because Dodge stopped making versions with smaller rear-access doors. A Dodge selling point is the offer of four full doors for a price comparable to that of competitors with only two. The 2003 1500 Quad Cab that I drove carried a sticker price of $37,650.

But the Dodge's ride and handling were the roughest of this group by far. The interior needs an upgrade to make it as luxurious as it is capacious, and the towing capacity trails the Titan's and the F-150's.

The Ram's size and brute power offset the lack of refinement for some. But Nissan and Ford have just raised the bar.

Great review, but I am of the belief that if it's a truck, it should ride like a truck. If I want a luxury car ride, I'll go get a luxury Chrysler.

I hate Ford... please don't start me there... LOL!

I have got to ask though, why are you trying to push Nissan at a Dodge site? A bit risky, don't ya think?

I also have read many things about the Nissan being the better truck. It may have some better skills. But, it does not get my blood pumping because it looks like RoboCop should be behind the wheel. It's style is non-existant! Blends in to the crowd like everything on the road. Have to go with fugly here. Sorry. MY .02.

No one will ever approach you in a parking andsaycan my boy check out your HEMI.

YES!! A truck should RIDE like atruck... not a car. When they put a 6 foot bed on the Chrysler300, then it should ride like a luxurycar.

Who buys a truck based on the ride? I buy for what gets me excited...a truck thatmakes meyearn to drive it everytime I see it... that's what I buy for.

I prefer my bouncier truck ride to a car... it's more fun, I feel the power of my lead foot better... LOL!

Ok cheeze-whiz

Look the ram has always had a rough ride its a TRUCK!

What sort of payload do you think you can handle w/ a "nice ride" what r u transporting flowers to the girls in your sewing club.

I can picture you now.Your the type of person that brings an umbrella everywhere just in case. You have a package of tissues in your pocket to dry your eyes from all the sniviling you do. You have shoe inserts to help with your arch. You avoid mud puddles cause you cant see the bottom. You think four-wheelin' is driving around your dads garage. You probably keep wet wipes in the 300m so you can clean up any tea that spills...god forbid. I bet you put your animals in little sweaters that you knit yourself. I almost forgot the package of band-aids that you keep in your carry-all, atleast you wont get any more blisters on your heel when you wear you high-heel driving pumps.

Tobybackwoods - Everyone is entitled to their opinion... and you've gone beyond the sake of arguement. Please don't intentionally try to insult members... it's not nice and it isn't relevant to the topic. I hope you understand!
