I Just bought my Semi Annual winter beater... a 1988 Dodge Dakota 4x4 long bed.. 3.9 L V-6

Brake light's stuck on.. and the "Hydraulic system control valve" is leaking fluid.. Any Pointers?
Other than that it was a GREAT buy at $1000.. since the book's $1995, and it's got $1000 worth of tires.... It's kinda like a free truck ;)

Has a few flukey little electrical things... but I'll figure 'em out.

Upon firther review (In the day light with a little assistance... ) The leak is a brake line, and not the valve.... Anyone got any pointers for a temorary splice to hold me over till the brake line I ordered comes in? I'm thinking of cutting out the damaged portion and splicing it with some brake hose... (2 weeks to get the new part)

brake line pressure is around 1000 psi . If you have a flaring tool, you can buy short pieces of steel brakeline and fittings at most autoparts stores.

i have also had very good luck with brass compression fittings on brake lines

I just tossed in the towel and replaced ALL of the Stainless brake lines... MANY of 'em were a BEAR to get out....

Two New Rotors.. one rear drum... $300 and it goes like a bat outta hell.. and STOPS, too.

Since then.. I've had to fix a lotta small naggy little things... (worst of which was a leaky gas line under the truck.... (Dead ends offa the TOP of the tank))

Took the connector out of the blower motor resistor, and soldered the wires on... now THAT owrks.

Replaced the right front Turn Signal socket ($4.99 at Murrays')

Got the locking lugs (no key) off with a 19 MM Crafsman Socket and a BFH.

Still no backup lights... Probable tranny switch..

Even got hold of a Cassette Radio (Stock) and threw it in...

I've got it down, now where all that's left is findng the hole in the "mant Req'd Module", So I can Reset it.


All in all not too bad for a $1000 4x4..
