Hey.. well today on my way back home from work I start smelling this horrible burning syrup type smell and then all of a sudden steam starts coming out of the left side of my hood.. so I pulled over and there was water everywhere.. Turns out one of the big rubber tubes coming from the radiator had broken off of the plastic cap in the middle of the two.

We went to Autozone but they said they wouldn't carry anything like that.

Does anyone know WHAT this part is called, or where I could get it??

Its the little silver cap at the bottom of this picture.. the plastic came off

I just looked at mine, granted mine's a 4.7L, but the set up is similar. I would assume the whole hose comes as one piece. I couldn't see how the two hoses came apart from the filler neck. I would think if none of the usual auto parts stores don't carry it you'd have to go to the dealership or try a wrecking yard.

Just ask for the upper radiator hose for your truck.  My 4.7 and my borthers v-6 have the same type hose.  My brothers broke right in the same spot.  It comes as one peice from the radiator to the engine.  Not sure were he ended up getting his.

After checking the Autozone website, they don't show the complete unit.  If the houseing with the radiator cap is broken, you'll have to get the complete unit from the dealer.

Good Luck

Sorry for reviving an old topic... I'm sure you've fixed it already, but I figured I had to chime in.

I had this exact same thing happen on my Durango with a brand new upper radiator hose.  That plastic ring is just a glued on hose clamp and can easily be replaced with a good metal clamp.  The plasic assembly that the cap screws onto just has a large hose barb on either side for the hose to attach to. My Durango has been running this way since last Fall with no problems.  Much cheaper than replacing the entire hose, especially if the hose is fairly new.
