From what I understand, the oil pumps are basically indestructable. Not saying that can't be the problem...just saying its more than likely in another part of the system.

I am sure you checked.....but does it have oil in it?? (had to ask)
Maybe not getting picked up because of a blockage in the pickup.
I would investigate the oil sending unit and gauge before I condemn the integrity of the system.

Theintermediate shaft on the RTs are notorious for going out. They either strip the gears on the shaft or in the pump. And the pumps are not indestructible by any means. I would pull the oil pan, pull the pump, the I shaft, and check for damage from the no oil. Did you drive it far with no oil pressure? Check out the Turbo III section over at TD.com for more info on TIII cars, they have tons of info over there.
Hope that helps.

Yep the shaft gear was stripped, it needs a new jackshaft, oil pump, and the oil pump shaft. The only problem is they cant find parts, they can find them for the single overhead cam 2.2 turbo3, would those parts be the same as the duel overhead?

If I remember correctly, they are not. Contact Cindy at fwdperformance.com or call 281-288-4411 or 281-642-3878. She will get you or your mechnic everything you need. The sohc is not a turbo III but a turbo II and I think they spin at different speeds. You could even check turbododge.com (in the turbo 3 section) for the answer. Did you drive the car much with no oil pressure? The I shaft gear failure is very common with the T3 cars. Hope that helps.

The I shafts are all the same.... BTW Sorry for the mis-information.
