Hey everyone...

I'm new to the forum and i'm in the process of closing a deal on a new 2008 Dodge Avenger R/T AWD. Here is my problem;

The car I am ordering is out of town, and the dealership is also out of town from where I live. In order for me to take advantage of a great deal, I will have to agree to purchase this car without being able to drive it first...

...now, I have driven the R/T with front wheel drive many times and LOVE the car, but I am curious how much of a difference there will be between the FWD and AWD.

I know the FWD has the "sport steering and suspension" and the AWD has the "Touring suspension". Has anyone here driven both cars? How much difference is there and what is the real difference?

For anyone here with the R/T AWD, how do you like your vehicle? Does it feel as quick as the FWD version? Quicker?

Anything you guys can tell me to help fill me in on this would be appreciated... ASAP!

I just bought the R/T AWD, and I can't wait to run over everyone this winter with winter tires on all four corners. The AWD is basically an FWD until you get slippage. I haven't found a dealer yet that will let me smoke an R/T FWD for comparison. I am looking for aftermarket high performance chip suppliers for the Avenger. "Jet" has some but there are for 2005-06 3.5l engines. Have a nice day.

Ididn't test drive the FWD only AWD. This is the way to go...I love this car. I've used a G-Tech system to get 0-60 time of 6.8 sec. Didn't have it set up for HP/Torque,1/4 mile ect.It's not like other AWD that only operateif slipping. This system does not need front to rear slippageforactivation. It's used to influence vehicle dynamics by transfering torque in response to accelerator pedal position. Normally FWD but if @ full throttle a high percentage of power goes to rear wheels. Power is still transmitted to all four wheels, which keeps front wheels from slipping.I've been on wet roads and semi-hard packed dirt roads. From dead stop to full throttleit had no slip at all. The touring package suspension rides fine...it's about 1+' taller than R/T fwd. I was told by a Dodge tech that the AWD system takes up more roomunder vehicle and they couldn't use the sport suspension.You will be very happy w/ AWD.
