Ok, I;m pretty sure the starter is getting replaced but here is what it is doing. About 3 weekes ago, got in the truck to start it and nothing. I had power to the truck because the fan radio, etc....all worked. Turn the key...no turnover. No grinding just a single click. Had it towed to my mechanics garage and when I got it off the truck, boom, started right up no problem. I had him load test the battery the next day and the battery is fine(only bout a year old.)
I have driven it several times since, and no problem. Today, luckily I was home, did the same thing. Got home, tried to start it immediately again. It started once, the second time...no dice. It sat about two hours and I tried it again..BOOM... started right up. I'm pretty sure its the starter but I just wanted input if anyone had any other ideas or similar situations.

It does sound like the starter. You didnt say it sounded like it was hesitating to start. Usualy it start slow. It also can be lose wires to the starter. I would check the wires first if there nice and tight check with a voltmeater or a check light to make sure there is power. Then replace the starter.

just before it wouldnt start, it had to wind up to start. the next time i tried it, it wouldnt start. like i said, it sat for a couple hours and turned right over.

So, dodge f25, ever replaced one of these....looks like its pretty simple, other than getting under the truck but according to what Ive seen on the 2wd drive models and info Ive found on the net, I dont have to take off the steering assmbly to get to it...a couple of bolts it looks like.
Next time it does it tap it a few times with something like your tire iron. Then try it, if it works then you know for sure. I have changed mine 3 times on my 90. Top bolt a bit tight to get at then just snake it down past the exaust.
yup your right its perty easy the hard part is once you have it unbolted monuvering it around. It can come out easy but sometimes you need to tilt it up or twist it just the right way to get it in and out

starter problems continued...im stopped working here because of rain and I have a questions as far as removing it...it's a v-6 and do I just disconnect the solenoid wires and take out the long bolts(that run through it) to remove it. I have looked at a couple of diagrams that show removing a mounting bracket...Basically, I'm not sure what all comes off and what doesn't.
As far as I kow there is no mounting bracket the seperates from the starter. You might be looking at something that discribes how to rebuild it. to get it out the the truck you disconnect the solenoid wires and take out the long bolts(that run through it) to remove it. the mounting bracket is part of the starter. I checked the autozone page you posted it was correct.you can remove the wires when removing the bolts or you can disconect the one that connects to the battery pos. terminal and the other wire has a disconect clipyou can pull. it may be easyer to do this. good luck it always rains when you dont want it to ha.
