Alright, so I should be getting my K&N CAI 63 series this Monday, i was reading the instructions sheet from the K&N web-site and I noticed it said disconnect the negative cable from the battery, is this really necessary? If it is and I do disconnected, do I have to go to the dealer to have my MDS checked out? I ask this because I read somewhere on one of these threads that if you disconnect the battery, the MDS will be disabled.
Any other tips or advice on how to install the CAI would be very helpful.

Betta,
I believe they almost always want you to disconnect the battery in case of Shade Tree Mechanic short-outs... an accidental grounding of an electronic or metal part can cause some real problems -- and no, the MDS is fine.  You just need to reset the time on the radio when you reconnect it.

I have the same K&N 63 system and love it.  Yes, I disconnected the battery.

Be a good kid and do what you're told .

PS: Use a slight amount of WD40 when installing the air sensor in the rubber grommet -- saves on hurting innocent ears .

I don't disconnect my battery when fiddling w/the CAI, with the key off there are no live electrical components connected to the CAI. I would recommend that you reset the PCM by pulling fuse 11 so it starts to learn the new hardware from scratch.

I had my Mopar CAI installed by the dealer.....would they have pulled the fuse or is it not necessary.  Or can I do it now.  thanks.

Stud,
I believe disconnecting the battery is the same as pulling fuses: you are creating an electrical "short" therefore, no power to whatever is fused.  Same difference.

So it doesn't really matter if I disconnect the negative or pull fuse 11? Maybe I should do both, or maybe none at all, lol. All right, hopefully I will be getting it today and installing either today or tomorrow and I'll let you guys know how it turned out. One more thing though, I remember reading somewhere on one of these threads that someone had a problem after they pulled fuse 11, I think the car wasn't turning back on or something, anyway. Thanks for the advice.

Oh man I remember that, it was Jules jacking around with her car.  She pulled 11 and 17, god knows what else

I always pull 11 unless I have to disconnect the battery.

LOL.  I forgot about her fuse pulling -- funny stuff.  Wonder what ever happened to Jules?  Quite the gal -- sure full of life that one...

I can't feel any dumber right now, but I'll ask anyway, when I got the K&N, they send a whole bunch of washers to go with the screws, Different sizes and uneven amounts. Now, the instructions don't say which to use with which screw, does it matter? I know they have to fit in, but does it matter which one I use with which screw? And should I use one washer in the front and one in the back?

Maybe the 69 series?

I found a 69 and 57 series for the 5.7. 69-2526TP (Typhoon) and 57-1542 (FIPK)

Thanks for the link, interesting they don't list that when I search for 2006/Dodge/Charger/5.7.

Anyhew, from their PDF install doc I see a bunch of washers:

K - Flat washer 1/4"
N - 8mm wave washer
O - Flat washer 5/16"
X - Fender washer 1/4 x 1"

From their descriptions they should be easy to sort out but then again I'm not looking at a mess of parts in front of me   are there certian ones you question where they go?

Well, this is where I bought it from but its the same, I asked one of my co- workers and he said if they sent enough washers, they probably want me to put it on both end of the screw, one on the nut end and one on the end with the head. I'm just confused about it because I have 2 washers that are different and only came in one. Am I making any sense?
