I would greatly appreciate your opinion. I've been following the Forum for a few months now, yet never actually participated. I have also noticed that your probably one, if not the best qualified, to answer my question. A bit embarresed. I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I am still unsure. Yes, it's another exhaust question. Just got my black 07 R/T Charger AWD. Love it. Big upgrade from my Mustang GT. AWD because I have 2 young kids and I travel alot(work and weekend house). I need something that's not overkill(2 kids), yet an attention getter. Very worried about Droning. Initially looking at Flowmaser(popular and rather cheap), but too much neg. feedback(drone/rust). Listened online too various exhaust, but didn't notice much difference between most. Wish I knew more. Trying to learn via mags, this forum, etc. Funny...everyone has a diiferent opinion, so please bless this amatuer with yours. Thanks and of cause all others whom post opinions are just as appreciated.

Good to see you posting up and welcome to the forum. The whole exhaust thing was simple prior to all the vendors now producing products for the LX platform. The three top products were produced by zoomers, borla & corsa. Now Flowmaster, SLP, Billy Boat, Volant and others are in the exhaust market and doing good things. From my personal experience zoomers or corsa are going to satisfy your needs. But that view is limited because I haven't heard the new exhausts personally. Like you I can listen to sound clips all day but it isn't the same as being in the car and hearing it thought the RPM range w/and w/o MDS kicking in. Hope that helps in your quest and I hope others give you their 2 centavos also.

Is Corsa generally a better exhaust then Magnaflow? I was leaning towards Magnaflow initially. Thanks again Mango!

For a LX 5.7 MDS vehical it's my personal opinion Corsa is better but again that's my personal opinion. Talk to someone else that's "Magnaflow branded" and you will get a different answer. Corsa doesn't use any baffling or packing to obstruct the flow of the exhaust, it uses what Corsa calles Reflective Sound Cancellation technology. That technology turns exhaust pressure back into itself to cancel the noise, see attached pic. At WOT it's a straight through pipe with little if any obstruction. I have nothing against Magnaflow, their CatBack for the LX is a single muffler two inputs to outputs. If I recall correctly that setup can lead to droning. Several on the forum have Magnaflow and I'm sure they will chime in. You can find several threads on this subject by doing a search for Magnaflow in the Charger section. <edit> attached pic Thumbnail Image

I don't know jack s**t about exhaust myself, but so far from what I've read from threads, Borla, Magnaflow and Corsa seem to be the top 3. I've read negative comments on flowmasters.

More information that would be good between those 3 (which unfortunately I don't have) is that thedifference is. What the added HP is, the idle, drone, etc etc. Maybe someone else might have this info.

VinMan73, Being a poor recent college graduate, I decided to look for a local shop which raced competitively. I found such a shop in my hometown. I first looked at their cars and the races they've won. I also checked out their setup as well. I liked what I saw in their car, setup, sound and runs. Everything I heard about the shop was good. I decided to go with them, they put flowmaster 40's on, straightpipes without resos and I have no complaints. I don't notice a "drone" so much as a nice growl at all speeds. Others who have sat both inside and outside of the car say it sounds great. Had everything done for $475. This may be in my head, but I do believe the exhaust helped immensley. Just a thought. Good luck with your search.

Vinman, I bought the Magnaflow system when I first got my Daytona Charger in 2006 -- keep in mind, I sold a 1971 Plymouth GTX with a Hurst 4 speed, and a mighty 440 with a Direct Connection "3/4" cam, with a Dana 60 rear end and had 2 1/2" exhaust with headers and Flowmasters I had for 13 years. It sounded great. LOUD, but great. Thump, thump, thump... Anyway, I want you to know I'm not new to cars. When I bought my Mango Charger, I loved the car, but wanted a louder exhaust. I looked around and found Magnaflow was the hit of the forums and bought it with the MF True-X muffler and chrome 4" tail pipes. It sounded OK, I mean, it certainly wasn't the chest-pounding sound of my GTX, but then a 350 motor wouldn't... so, I liked it initally UNTIL I drove it on the road and the MDS kicked in. It started DRONING throughout the cab and before too long my wife wasn't looking pleased. I returned and had the True-X muffler cut out and replaced it with the stock suitcase muffler/resonator. I left the rear 4" MF reso's on, for looks. So, I'm here to tell you my friend, don't buy the Magnaflow system. I paid $700 for it, and ended up with two 4" chrome resonators... I've heard Corsa and the quieter Borla systems work well with MDS. I know some like Flowmaster, but I'm sure the interior will fill with noise like my GTX did. I bought my Daytona to be more of a refined car, so I don't want to go back to having to yell in my car to be heard... I've done that. Good luck with your choice and let us know what you ended up with! PS -- my son had a 2003 ZO6 Corvette with the Corsa exhaust. I'm hear to tell you it was a blast -- LOUD when you hit it, yet a growl at cruising -- still it was a bit much for me. He loved it, but he's 24 and single. OUR problems with the exhaust is we have two engines in one -- normal and MDS. It's a exhaust nightmare that the Dodge engineers handled actually pretty well. MN
