I have a problem with my 94 Intrepid. The other night it was running at idle and then it just quit. After several failed attempts to re-start it, I let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. It then started & I proceeded to start driving home. After I drove about 200 yards, it started spittingg and sputtering and tehn died. I got it to start a couple more times, but it did not stay running very long. It acted like a plug wire was loose, but further investigation found all plugs and wires were tight. I have suspected that the fuel pump was going to fail soon. Is this actually the fuel pump going out or is it something else? It was extremely hot that night and I was wondering if it could have had vapor lock. Please somebody help me before I drop money on a new pump. Thanks.

I'd check the pressure at the rail (10-20$ guage) before I changed an expensive pump.  It also could be a clogged fuel filter or line, or if the presure is good and still not starting, spark, timming, MAP sensor, wires....

You wouldn't get vapour lock with a fuel injected car.  I'd replace the fuel filter first.  It is right under the rear passenger side door along the frame rail.

we were having a similar problem until we changed the crankshaft position sensor (about $35 at autozone). I had to change it from under the car in our 94, w/ the 3.5l engine, but you may not with your 3.3 idk
