Default V6 gas mileage VS V8 power

Hey guys,

Planning on buying a Dakota here in the near future. I am pretty sure I will be getting the quad cab and I'm looking around the 2000 to 2003 model (want to spend less than 17K)

My question is: Is the V6 powerful enough for the quad cab? What about the 4x4 quad cab?

I also heard that the smaller v8 (4.7 I think) does not have much worse gas mileage compared to the stock v6. This is making me lean towards the V8.

I'm upgrading from a 2000 Chevy S-10 with the 4.3 L V6 (which moves quite decently-- but its a lot smaller of course)

Thing is I dont really need a whole lot of power except enough to throw a 450 pound motorcycle in the back.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,

V8!!! The gas mileage isn't too much different and I think having more power is better than not having enough.

The 4.7L is the way to go!! Mine is getting 13-14 mpg, and the power is definately necesary! Especially because the v6 doesn't get much better milage.
