Well what is up guys? Normally I'm over in the CTD section with my truck buddies, but now I'll be visiting over hear a little too now!

My wife told me friday she wanted a new car and to my surprise (almost craped my pants) she said she wanted to go look at chargers (she has a bmw and has been looking at g35's) so I kicked shit into high gear and we went to the dealer on sat and signed the papers on mon and will be picking up the new baby tomorow night... I cannot wait, I am going crazy right now waiting, patience... patience.. I'm trying to calm down. It is an 07 black charger R/T with the road and track preformance group and electronic convenience group.

Anyway, I again craped my pants after I heard her say, "I want some loud gurgly exhaust too!" I cannot believe it is happening not only will my driveway only have dodges now but I am gonna have the best of both worlds, a coal rolling beast of a truck and one sweet freaking american gas guzzlin muscle car.

So basically I have to many questions to ask...
-what kind of exhaust is good?
-intake?
-fuel additives?
-does anybody have a guess on a stock 1/4 mile time?
-etc. etc.

Please fell free to tell me any other things that might be helpful with my new car.
All the guys in the CTD section are real cool and very helpful, I'm sure it will be te same over here.
Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

lata,
savage

From what I've read, mopar and K&N are both good CAI, I haven't gotten any yet, but I plan to go with the K&N, and towards the end of the year, if it comes to exhaust, I'll be getting magnaflows, but I've heard borla is a real good one too, its just more pricey.

There are lots of exhaust threads, you'll probably get information overload from a search.
Zoomers, Corsa, Borla (two versions to choose from), Flowmasters, SLP... the list goes on.

Intake's - Not much of a HP adder until you do some major mods (cam/heads/boosting)
Like betta said K&N/Mpoar/AirHammer from the Reverend Hammer (Hammer Sports)/AFE... the list goes on.

Fule additives - at this time none for me.

1/4 stock - low 14s or if you get a freak upper 13s

Dude I know what your talking about... My brother had a 95 4dr neon sohc 5spd stock (except for the exhaust) that ran a 14 flat consistently at the drag strip, but my 98 r/t neon dohc 5spd I'm sure would be more like 15.5 if I was lucky maybe more (I never ran it but I drove both cars). I hope I got a freak!!

Anyway I'm thinking maybe keep the stock piping but change to flowmaster 40's and loss the resonators too? Maybe also an AFE filter but not the whole intake system. Would this be allright, you think??

There was a recent thread on a Flowmaster CATBack install and it sounded good and there wasn't any drone.  I wouldn't recommend chopping resos & mufflers and adding flowmasters.  Start by swapping out the suitcase in middle for the FM 40s and keep the resos on the rear.  If it isn't loud enough then cut the resos (Keep the resos once their cut. You might find the drone driving you crazy and you can slap the resos back on).

I have a hard time believing you can get 10+ HP out of a CAI without major mods.  Until I personally see it in person (dyno) or feel the difference (seat of the pants dyno ) I'm not buying it. I'm sticking with my home made CAI for now

Good question, I'm learning a world of new things and termonoly too, I just leanred what IDLE is, I have no clue what suitcase is, or any other kind of muffler talk, I read all this stuff about the MDS being disabled, is that a good or bad thing? I thought the MDS was when the car goes from 8 to 4 cyl. on the highway but after reading all the threads, I'm confused. At the same time, I've learned alot of new things too.

There's a interesting thread on that subject from a long long time ago discussing what the muffler and resos are on the charger.  The suitecase "thing in the middle" is considered to be the muffler by some. Here are pics for reference

MDS deletion is good or bad all depending on who your talking to.

I like MDS because of the fule savings.

The flip side...

If you want nothing but a mean speed machine then MDS = bad.  The valve lift with MDS is limited so the engine can not have a large lift cam installed so it limits the HP capability.  We're talking major HP difference here.

You can get up to 25-30 HP w/MDS friendly cam or you can get 60+ with a non-MDS cam.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info Magno, it does help, just one more thing I'm wondering about, what the hell is a drone? Sorry for all the questions, I  feel a little on the dumb side but its better to ask than to get something and not know what I'm getting into.

In this sense drone is a resonance noise and associated vibration created by the exhaust that drives people insane, I was a drone victim until I put a Corsa CATBack on.  Drone affects people differently, some don't mind it at all; guess I'm a light weight

Gongrats & Enjoy....oh yeah tell the misses to be ready for unwanted attention. My wife hates to take my car anywhere. She's gone grocery shopping and been asked questions (thought the guy was going to try & stuff her in the trunk, bad case of cop wife paranoia).. to the gym, asked questions....took her girlfriends out to dinner, asked questions by the valet......gas station, questions.

Nice ride; I'm envious of those wheels, they really stand out and make her look good.
