[ Did they cut teh FW when they installed the new clutch? That could be it. They did. I looked at www.stealth316.com, and they had an excellent article on replacing the tranny/clutch...and it said specifically that the flywheel *must* be "two-stepped" or else, the clutch "will slip"! I called the shop today, and the tech says he thinks maybe its the shaft that goes through the center of the tranny, into the transfer case. He said perhaps the "teeth" on it are stripped, and that is why it is slipping. He also said the transfer case has a clutch in it, which could have been burnt up. He said they will open it up, and look to see if that shaft is even turning. But I have not run it hard, nor raced it, since my new tranny in...2000 or so. I don't hear anything grinding, or crashing, not like when the tranny went bad. Just...first and second are s**t. And third is questionable. It does the exact same thing it was doing when I took it to the transmission shop, except now I don't get the noise from what must've been the throwout bearing. My question to him was...if the shaft is torn up, then why doesn't it seem to slip in 4th or 5th, even at low speeds? And why is reverse perfect? And why no noise? He said that when you get going, centrifugal force holds it more tightly together. OK. But I have tested it in every gear, at every possible speed and engine RPM, and it's consistent: If I am driving 30mph in 1st gear, it's slipping like crazy. If I am in 4th or 5th, I don't slip. Of course, the engine isn't thrilled about such a low speed in high gear. I thought it might be related to the RPM's...but again, when I am doing 2200 RPM, I am going about 65mph, and slippage is not apparent. But if I am in 1st or 2nd gear, and doing 2200 RPM, I am barely crawling forward. >Or, do you have an aftermarket FW, like the RPS or fidanza? No, it's stock. >Also, NEVER, NEVER NEEEEEEVER buy a centerforce clutch for these cars!!!!!!!!! That's what Altered Atmosphere put in it last time, and it worked out well for me. But I did not race it, either. Just drove to work with it. If it's not the shaft that runs through the transmission, then he thinks it's the transfer case. OK, so how do you "prove" it is the transfer case, or better yet, prove that it is not? Do you turn the wheels one way, and watch if the others spin, like the old posi-track differentials? He said something about how the Stealth makes most of its power primarily to the rear wheels, then the front ones are secondary, and when it was up on the lift, it didn't seem like all four wheels were turning together. But that was just some research he did, as he apparently hasn't worked on one before. And I doubt he ever wants to again! I'll give you a call, sometime Monday, I really appreciate it! Thanks again, Scopata Fuori

Thanks again, Scopata Fuori
That's bull. Its definitely not the transfer case or the shaft. If the T/C was going bad, it wouldn't slip, all 4 wheels would just lock up. If the clutch is slipping, its one of only 4 things. 1. Bad clutch 2. Bad Flywheel 3. Rear main seal is leaking, thus getting oil on the Clutch, making it slip. 4. Input shaft seal is leaking, cause the same affect as the rear main seal. Its one of those 4 things, but you can tell them its definitely not the transfer case.

Welcome! Sounds like you got a great car. I always wanted a Stealth R/T TT, but the price kinda kept me from getting one. Being that it's a '91 I thought that I would inform you that they were recalled for leaky transfer cases causing bearing damage and the plastic seat belt release buttons can break into peices causing seat belt failure.

Hey everybody, another new member lovin the site! Im totally blown away by the stealth and would soon love to become an owner. Im 18 years old, have a steady job, and have a chrysler daytona as it stands. I have done a few things to it, it is in minty shape and i usually get lots of compliments on it, but when i see a stealth drive by, i want to hide my car in shame!! Anyways, i live in Canada...Manitoba to be exact. We dont have the greatest selection of these beautiful cars but i would love to get some information on any Canadian stealths out there. The specs on the year/make and how you guys like driving them. I have never been in a stealth, but i could only imagine. Also if you guys could help me out on prices...what would be a good price for a certain year/model. Im sorry i have to ask all these questions here but i just cant find alot of info on them and thought you guys would be the best place to ask. Anyways, ill be checking here regularly! Thanks for all your help and I'm jealous of ALL OF YOU!

I own a '93 Stealth R/T( at least that what I was told and how Registered it. It is the 3000 DOHC with only single exhaust but the rear bumber has two opening for dual exhasut) Put a $4000 CDN custom Orange and Black paint on it with a ARPerformance Wing. Left the stock wing on, it still looks awesome. Tried to post some pictures but I guess they are to large in memory - try again when the snow goes away. I have one little problem though. Last fall I had put new 265-55-16 Hancooks on it and was at set of lights and just had to show this Ford a thing or two. Damn good grip, left him spining his tires. But got a bad wheel hope around 5 grand. Now the Tour/Sport light keeps flashing. Tested the module in the back passenger panel and seems just fine. Could I of broke a Strut? Anything else I should check first? I haven't tested the connector under the drivers seat yet. Thanks Darrell

So, is it a Stealth or a 3000GT. If it is a Stealth w/ a 3kgt bumper it would have the dual outlets. On the RT stealths, there is a way to cut out the place where the passenger side exhaust would be. I have read that wheel hop can be caused by faulty motor mounts. I don't know what could be wrong with the tour/sport mode. How does it ride, does it feel like it is in sport, or does it feel like it is in tour mode? Does it change when you press the button? Take off the caps of the front struts to make sure everything is still hooked up properly, you may have loosened a connection when you had the wheel hop. Let us know what it turns out to be.

Well, that car in the attachment is not a Stealth lol. Very nice looking stang. The rear bumper should say Stealth RT on it under the passenger side tail lamp. The RT's only had single exhaust exiting on the drivers side. The plain jane model Stealths did not have as "aggressive looking" ground effects on them. They also had body color sail panels (c-pillar covers). The RT/TT did have dual exhaust outlets. Your car is not a TT correct? As far as your tour/sport mode check this guys site. http://www.stealth316.com/ If you can't find what you need there try here. http://www.3si.org/forum/index.php Good luck, and lets see a pic of the stealth. Thats a sharp Mustang you have there. I'm not a Ford person, but I like some models of other makes/makers.
