Does anyone else get annoyed by the sound of their brakes?  My dealer said it's just the brake dust that builds up from the factory brake pads......has anyone changed or upgraded their pads or more?  Thanks

Mine squeels like an old pick up.  I have one that just seems to want to sqeek during a semi-hard (number 6 or 7 brake for you EVOC police graduates) but lessens as I pull up to stop.  Yeah, annoying.  Dealer says the same thing, but I am ever alert of dust and it still seems to occur.

I just work around it by slowing down more before I have to use a harder pedal.

MN - Well, I guess I'm in good company...but, no offense, I'd rather not have the squeeling brakes.....I can't stand it when I'm pulling up to a stop light with everyone looking at my car  and the squeeling starts ......I'm not sure if the onlookers are admiring my ride or afraid that my brakes are going to go out....I want to upgrade to better pads, but I don't want to spend the money until I have to.  Thanks again!

I have over 17k on car and mine very rarely squeek but when they start I do a couple really hard stops wait untill they cool and then hit them with the power washer and then I'm good for a while.  I am thinking the rotors glaze over a bit and the hard stops resurface the rotors a bit and the quick power wash cleans them up while adding a thin film of rust on the rotor which disappears then next time you stop.  Not sure if that is BS or not but it works for me.

No squeeky on mine.  Maybe the pads are glazed and you need to stomp hard on the brakes a few time to clear off the glaze.

Mine have just started to squeek a little on mild stops...not too bad but yes.....it got my attention.  So this is a common thing?

My dealer said it is very common with the type of pad from the factory.....he told me yesterday that Mopar makes a very high quality ceramic pad that produces very little dust and has a long life.....I will most likely be upgrading within the next 6000 miles or so.....but I'm not sure which pad is the best?  Any suggestions?

Mango - I will try the hard braking (the next time my daughter isn't with me.....don't want to scare her silly).

LOL good plan, it's worth a shot and doesn't cost a thing.

Good luck!

Mine too!!!!!  Friend/ head of service dept. told me that the pads are cheap.  Small metal fillings in these cheap pads ( usually when its humid or damp ) rust and/or get stuck.  Then they squeal untill they fall out or wear down.  The only fix is to buy better pads!  That's what happens when you build cars and can save $0.50-$1.00 per pad using brand Y instead of the usual brand X.  Total # of cars multiplied times $ = some upper-up's retirement package!

And we can all bend over..........AND TAKE IT UP THE TAIL PIPE!

welcome to the American dream!,

Go figure...I just put a set of 20" American Racing wheels and Nitto tires on my car this past Monday, and amazingly enough my brakes stopped squeeking    I have no idea how this can be, but I'm loving it.  Now I now onlookers are checking out my ride because it looks bad a$$ and not because they think my brakes are failing.

Mr. Stud, the dust must have been disturbed or something don't try to figure it out but expect it to return.  Which AR wheels did you get, got any pictures, I was looking at them for my ride as well 5 spoke chrome style.  What did you pay and where did you get them.

I got the 20" American Racing Muscle Rogue (black) wheels....I bought them off a guy who had to sell his Daytona...had less than 100 miles on the tires.....original price with tires would have been around $1800.    Tirerack.com has them, but for some reason AmericanRacing.com only shows them in chrome.

Here are some pics:
