Default Why 6-lug hubs on a dak?

Can anyone explain to me the rational of having6 lug hubs on a Dakota when a Ram and almost all other 1/2 trucks have 5? I love the 20" polished 5 spoke rims on the Ram and would love to put them on my Dak but no dice! I have half a mind to switch to to the Rams 5 lug hubs and have a much larger selection of rims available. [sm=dontgetit.gif]

GM full size 4x4s uses 6 lug and all 99 gm 1/2 full size 2 and 4wd use 6 now. Not sure if Nissan uses 6 lugs yet.

Only idea is they can use smaller lug studs with 6 than with 5 to get the required clamping force.

Dodge did it so us Dakota owners could mount some badass Viper wheels on our trucks....

Is there a similarity between Dakota and Viper hubs? Can viper breaks be mounted on a Dak?

Yep someone makes a kit so you can put viper brakes on a dakota, and the front wheels fit also...the rears are too wide.

Actually you'll be surprised on what fits what. I used 14"73 Charger ralleye rims on a 84 Ranger.
