Welcome to the site...

I would recomend the K&N either 63 series or 77 series... they both have easy clean installs and are effective.  I myself have the 77 series K&N the only major diff is the 63 series has a plastic intake and the 77 has chrome the 77 is more for show and most ppl don't go with it because of the heat transfer to the intake causing the CAI to become warmer.  However, if you like the looks of the 77 don't be turned away by this fact... because in truth the heat transfer is so small its negliable and not worth worrying about.

i'm running a K&N 63 FIPK intake on my 4.7l 2005 quad cab. with an exhaust as well, it cools down the engine and allows for better flow of air :D

There are a few "name brand" intakes that are good.

The cheapest is probably AIRAID (the Jr. kit is cheap)
AEM makes a brute force intake for our trucks and the aforementioned K&N intakes...

welcome to the site...

Go with the Air aid and you'll pay way less than the K&N and get the same results.

I love my AEM Brute Force.  No need to oil the filter after you wash it.

yeah i would go with the AEM it gives you 11HP and 14TQ and none of the otherones give you that much! so yeah aem is the way to go...but also its metal so there is gonna be more heat than a K&N but its gives you like 2 more HP and 5 more TQ so i mean really its all about what you'll like seeing when you pop the hood!

I am making my own,  but its basicly the same as the K&N (same filter dimensions)
I took and bent some 3 inch aluminum tube...  and welded in a small 1 inch chunk for the PCV return..  It is currently at ratt racing being ceramic coated with my uncles headers...   :-D

I have an airaid intake and love it. I always had k&n in other trucks I had but went with airaid because it was cheaper and there all the same anyway so I would go with what you can afford.
