Just read on ALLPAR that chrysler will be offering a lifetime power train warranty on all 2007 and 2008 model year vehicles.  Wow!  I wonder if it already incudes cars already purchased......Bought my avenger back in March!

In an unprecedented step, Chrysler announced that it will offer a nontransferable lifetime powertrain warranty on all new vehicles, as of July 26, 2007. This warranty is good for 2007 and 2008 model year vehicles, and covers parts and labor for the engine, transmission, and drivetrain.

The typical car buyer trades in their vehicle after five years; the powertrain warranty does not cover any but the first registered owner (on sale of the car, the warranty is switched to a standard three year, 36,000 mile plan). The longer warranty may help to attract those who have lingering doubts, particularly about transmissions and the 2.7 liter engines.

Great move by Chrysler. Still have those knuckle heads thinking all of our products are lemons because in the 70s they bought a lemon. Ha

My favorite part of this whole thing is this quote from Alan Helfman, vice president of Helfman River Oaks Chrysler Jeep.

"It's pretty incredible", he then goes on to say "It will nullify all concerns. We have the best warranty in the business now. Toyota doesn't give that. Nissan doesn't give that. Put your money where your mouth is big boy".

Well put sir

Called my dealer yesterday, and there is a buy in program in place, for theose who bought there Chrysler vehicle before the warranty period.  Will cost from 750-950 depending on time bought.  I already have a lifetime warranty from my dealer....They are talking about converting them to the chrysler one...maybe to save themsleves some money!

I called my dealership today and was told that there is no buy in for the lifetime warranty. I was told the only thing I could buy would be the extended warranty.

Watch the dealers. I asked a dealer when I was looking a car about the dealer incentive on the Avenger and they said there were none. I asked on 2 different occations. Then another dealer recently said there is no such thing on some Avenger (The sensor for the transmission). This was a couple of weeks ago. So sometimes they can be wrong. I would n't depend on them. I would ask Chrysler.

My salesman told me that if we came in or looked at a car when the incentives where active, but than were looking at other vehicles at other dealers when the incentive was removed, that they would still honor it. So fortunetly, my salesman gave me the better incentive that ended July 29th, plus the lifetime warranty.

Its also unclear to anyone how long this lifetime warranty will be available. The manager told me they are predicting a month or two... who knows...

My dealer said there were rumors about the lifetime warantee being extended to the unfortunates that bought the Avenger too quickly. I think it's sh** we bought this car a month (or less) before they came out with this new freaking deal, and now we get bumkus. Regular ol 3y warantee for us!

P.S.- I'll be impressed w/ a bumper to bumper that last 5y like many or most foreign auto maufacturers. W/ Dodge staying with the 3yr bumper and then "lifetime" powertrain, I kind of think it's a cop-out. What, exactly, is Dodge considering as "powertrain" (since every manufacturer seems to think they're super special by defining it completely differently).

I thought maybe it was just a rumor before I bought my car in June. Well when they advertise it on t.v. I don't even want to see it or hear someone say "Hey and you have that lifetime warranty too!" That would be nice to have a lifetime on the power train anyway. I keep my cars till they drop.

Mine came with the powertrain warranty, and I decided to get the bumper to bumper lifetime to go with it. It covers over 5 thousand parts. Maybe it was a mistake, but I plan on keeping this car for a long while with that kind of deal. If something breaks after the standard warranty, I am covered. (still have a small deductible though, but it is still cheaper than a couple hours of labor alone) Do you all think it was a mistake getting it? It cost me about $1600 bucks. I keep telling myself it was a good choice, cause once it is paid off, there are not really any worries.

I think you made the right choice. Well you know what the powertrain warranty is covering and not covering, So you at least have it just in case those other things go like the air or front end, etc. Better that you have it because maybe you'd be kicking yourself later. You might have sensed something when you bought the extra warranty.
