I have been stressing on whether I should have purchased the extended warranty or not since I bought the car and I still am... I decided at purchase not to get it since usually the powertrain is the most important and usually expensive repair costs in the event of a failure and since that's covered in the lifetime warranty, I figure I have $1600 to use for repairs if something does fail other than the powertrain.. I purchased an extended warranty with my last car and (It figures) nothing went wrong with the car until after the extended warranty expired.. then it went all to hell.. Hence the 08 Avenger :) but I am going of of that experience when I decided not to get the extended warranty.. Typically the car should last past that point without any issues so I am gambling that an extended warranty is a waste of $.. But that's whats so enticing about extended warranties.. You just don't know whats going to happen with the car and you cant know for sure until that time comes. So far what I'm seeing with the 08 Avenger is it looks like it wasn't made with the best parts in the world and the whole car is held together with those little push in fasteners :) makes me feel like I'm driving a Lego car.. I'm pretty sure I can remove the bumpers by giving a sharp upward pull on them :) But regardless.. I love the car.. So it would probably be a good idea to go for the added insurance of not worrying about the car for a longer period of time.. especially with all the little quirks I am seeing with my car at such an early time.

I like my car also but I tend not to trust this transmission I have. I was told that it's a whole new design and that the way it seems to hesitate when it's gets around 35-40 and it feels as if it's not sure it wants to shift into gear is normal. It's makes it seem to others and myself it's not working right. I know what your saying exactly

As to the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty for those that purchased the vehicle before July 26. You can buy into it. My father bought a 2007 Jeep Patriot in April and received the standard warranty. I had my father call the dealer to ask about the Lifetime warranty and he bought it for $750. All dealers have different prices but it can be bought into, don't let any of them tell you other wise. Just like a Lifetime bumper to bumper warranty can also be bought into. Kind of a good idea for those of us that have the MyGig system. But you're vehicle is fully covered until 48,000 miles so I would suggest not buying the Lifetime bumper to bumper until than.

Just a quick note.. The longer you wait to get the extended warranty the more it costs.. The dealer told me it goes by time of purchase tiers with buying the extended warranty at the time of purchase being the cheapest tier level. Think it was Time of purchase, 30 days, 5 month, 1 year, 2 year, ect with each period getting more expensive. (Forgot the pricing though)

For anyone that hasn't seen the lifetime powertrain warranty details yet here is a scanned copy I received from my dealer. That is about right.........pretty much covers anything that gets oil. That is why I bought the extended full lifetime warranty. Not likely a piston skirt or cam lobe will die off, but a sensor on the other hand stands a very good chance of taking a dump. I say you made a good choice Marcio.......obviously, I made the same one. I plan on keeping it so.........why not cover it. It's hard to beat. Drive it until the wheels fall off, then tell them to put some new ones on it and drive it some more.
