Currently running an 06 5.7L Charger w/K&N 63 Series CAI, Flowmaster Super 40 Exhaust w/out reso's, and running the Superchips Flashpaq Performance Tune.  I've also slapped some splash gaurds and a front chin spoiler on.  My only other body mods are going to be 20'' black rims with gun metal trim, new ultra high performance all-season tires and then tinting the windows.  What I'm really after is speed.  Thinking about a TBS, headers and cats, camshaft and a new stat.  Basically going to put what I can in the engine without destroying it.  Any brand suggestions out there?

All right let's get to modding

TBS - Don't do much for our cars.

T-stat - go with a 180 and get the NoESP CoolIt Auto mod. She'll stay between 183 and 187 from then on.

Headers are a must, either short or long tube.  Look into what VA emissions allow if you want to go w/long tubes.

There are lots of CAM choices, first question would be MDS or no MDS.

Throttle body spacers don't help very much?

Love MDS, as He is a daily driver.  I know some CAM's can negate MDS.

Seen a lot about JBA headers, what's your take?

T-Stat and CoolIt are for sure, thanks for the advice.
VA Emissions Standards for remote sensing as of Jan. 1, 2005:
LDGT (1 or 2) - CO% 4, HC (ppm) 450, NO (ppm) Range1 Low to High 600-900
LDGV - CO% 4, HC (ppm) 450, NO (ppm) Range1 Low to High 600-900
HDGV - CO% 5, HC (ppm) 600.
note: LDGT, LDGV, HDGV are vehicle type.

Also, I have 3'' exhaust tips now but would like 5''.  All flowmaster has is 4'' and down.  Know where I could find good tips (Flowmaster preferred) at 5"?  Thanks.

Going to try and throw some pictures up.  Not sure If I should waite until after He gets some new kicks.  May do a before and after session.

Final thought: Being I have no knowledge of automobiles other than what I've learned since purchasing my car (basically product knowledge, I'm not stupid I just have command of completely useless information), would you suggest I do the 180 Stat and NoESP and CoolIt mods myself and risk complete Hemi meltdown?

Yup, TBS = cool noise & almost no HP <= less HP added then a CAI.

Yup, MDS must be negated to use some CAMs.

JBA

Emission information is ver cool but doesn't tell me if you can run long tube headers.

5" tips - I have no idea of a catback that comes w/one.  You'll probably have to go aftermarket an weld it on.

T-stat and NoESP Coolit mod - Go for it you can't screw it up or have a melt down. I'll give you my number to call if you have any issues.

What cams don't get rid of MDS?  Is there a big difference in performance between those that do(get rid of MDS) and those that don't?

Cams - I'm a big fan of Comp. Call 800-999-0853 They'll hook you up with a good one that will retain MDS. Or try www.hemishop.com

5" tips - Try a coffee can

I have a comp cam grind MDS friendly and it produces around 30 HP.

MDS cams will produce around 30 HP, non MDS upwards of 60.

found the noesp and coolit mods online, can't find a 180 T-Stat.  Not at the local Autozone.  Trying AAP and then NAPA this weekend.

Mmm, nothing like that freshly brewed smell every time I go for a ride.

What about the fan continuing to run, due to 180-stat, after you turn off the engine and thus draining the battery?  Would the noesp and coolit mod take care of that?

By default it turns off when you turn off the car. You can wire it direct to a 12v source so I continues to run until it's cool.

NAPA should be able to get you one in a day or two.
