That's 27.3" tall and 9.3 wide and should fit. You should be able to fit at least 9.6 wide and stock is 28.6" tall. I am looking at 245/55/18 which are 9.6 wide 28.6 tall. wider than stock but stock height, the manufacturer says they will fit stock rims and wheel wells no problem, yours are smaller so they should fit too but you will sacrifice ride quality with shorter sidewall. Just my two cents but contact the tire manufacturer and let them take the responsibility. Tire size converter may help you decide http://www.s-series.org/htm/calc/tiresizeconv.htm

will the change decrease my speed, acceleration and handling, or just ride comfort?

I am seriously considering getting some new rims as well. Probably going with 20" and P245/45/R20 of some kind of good, all season performance V and Up rated tire. I'll be putting them on my 06 Dodge Charger RT. My question is: Will this effect the overall speed of my vehicle, as in 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? Thanks for the help.

Decreasing your tire diameter will change your gear ratio to a lower gearing (the higher the number the lower the gearing). This will decrease overall top speed but increase low end torque and probably make it more fun at normal speeds. Your not making such a major change that it will drastically make a noticable change but your gearing and speedo will be effected. Check out this site. http://home.comcast.net/~cboug/Tire_Gear_Calculator.htm Stock gearing on your R/T should be 2.82 if that means anything to you, but you can see the difference if you plug in the numbers into the calculator. As far as the speedo goes if you have a superchips supertuner you can make the tire size adjustment yourself or I believe your local dealer will make the adjustment for you to correct the speed and odometer reading. If you go with the 245/45/20 inch it will virtually leave your overall tire diameter the same 28.7 vs 28.6 but it is decreasing your sidewall height again effecting ride quality. You will get a firmer ride with less flex in the sidewall resulting in a more responsive ride especially in corners. Not a bad thing but the ride will be less plush. This tire size is the SRT8 stock size. Personnaly I would go with the 245/45/20 if you are changing rims because you have more tire options in maintaining close to stock overall tire diameter plus it will fit your wheel well the same as it does now and maintain the gaps. Good Luck

I have been thinking of upgrading my suspension for a long time becuase at high speeds my Charger feels unstable and there is too much body roll. I purchased a set of BFGoodrich g-force KDWS all seasons 245/55/zr18 and they are amazing!! My Charger feels like a sports car now. I can go through corners at high speeds and a lot of the body roll has dispeared. The only problem I seem to have now is that they new tired burn out more in a stright line. Light to light I think its a bit slower but in corners its safer and faster.

I've been planning to get those KDWS, it's great to hear about another person happy with them.

Hardcharger, Take your time in this decision. If you want bling, do what you wish. Low riders are usually exempt from high performance. If you want performance, I'd stick with the 18s and a better tire. Remember, you'll be adding UNSPRUNG weight to the car by going to bigger, heavier, 20" rims. I believe the tires are about the same weight. What unsprung weight does is makes you slower in the straights and heavier in the corners, because the engine must do more work to spin those heavier wheels and in the corners you may need heavier springs, shocks, and sway bars to equal out the more mass (weight) in the corners. It is very difficult for most people to figure out that when you change something you also must change something else to equalize your change. Also, the lower the profile, the tire will FEEL great in a hard corner, UNTIL it just lets go and you're in the pucker brush -- the 18" tires are more forgiving (taller sidewall) and start to make noise before the lower profiles will, but will allow you to recover -- IF your not completely out of shape. Also, the SRT8 tires are only about 1/2" wider than our stock '06 tires. THAT isn't much of a performance change. Choose wisely my son -- think about WHAT you want to do with the car before spending thousands of dollars and be disappointed. MN

srteatr, please post up some pics of those tires on your ride. I'd like to see what the look like because I'm torn between the 245x55x18 you put on or 255x55x18.

Thanks for the info. Think i'm going to stay with 18's, get the KDWS as srteatr loves them and so does a friend with an SRT4. May go with 245/55/18's in front and 255/55/18 in rear, if I can find them...

New tires, went with 255/55/18 Nitto's NT 420S. Ride nice and feel nice, plus they fill up the wheel well a little better than the factory conti's. They're V-Rated at 149mph. I doubt I'll ever go that fast anyway. Thanks for all the input and help. And I will have some pics by the weekend...

MN Well about the SRT-8 tires, some have 245's at the rear some have 255's so some srt's have tires anywhere from just over a 1/2inch to almost 1.5inches wider. For an R/T with anything less then cam, nitrous and head work then 245's or 255's are going to give plenty of grip. But once you have added 50hp over stock then 255's are a must and 265's should be for the guy you goes to the track.
