I know I had this on here before...but i can't find the post. I am still...trying to install my sony radio in my 05 dak. Pretty much decided to use my 04 radio adapter that i had in my old truck and run an acc power from the fuse box to the adapter since it seems to be the only change that effects my radio. In the last discusion some one said that spot 54 was an acc and I did verify that...however how the heck do you get to the back of it to wire into to? I have the extra fuse for the spot. Just haven't been able to get the block apart to get to the back side of it....
seems like quite a pain in the A#@

where did you find the adapter? been to 4 stores so far and they all have the 99 and up adapter which is the 2nd gen adapter i already have. Finding the correct adapter would be a hell of a lot easier then what i am trying to do!
I ordered it through a local dealer, they got it from Metra... was like 60 bucks, due to it having to have a circuit board inline, so that it worked well..
you can just get a plug in wire with a fuse built in I forgot the name of it you can find it at your local speedshop or circuit city. so much simpler than geting to the back of the box

cool. i will have to check them both out. the plug in fuse method may work best since i also want to run a line for my radar detector as well...or do both. Thanks guys. what a pain this truck has been over my 04 still need to get anti spin for it and the 2" leveler to get it to what my old one was stock....
oh my gosh... frenchy I spent the last like 10 minutes looking for your "adapter"... I got nothing though :-(
Anywhoo... what you need to do is go to circuit city and tell them you need a metra kit #99-6507 and harness #6502 (some shops may have it as XSVI-6502)
You will also need the antenna adapter #40-CR30
now that you have all of the right parts, you will need to run an accessory (switched power) to the radio. you can find this source either at the HVAC controls or in the ignition column... Take your handy dandy digital multi-meter and check the wire to make sure it has power when you have the key on and doesnt have power when the keys off...
