Wow. I'm downright lazy when it comes to washing my truck (I do know better but there's always something else that has to get done...) and even I know you can't leave dirt and stuff on it for too long. Bugs left on the chromed plastic too long will eat thru the coating (and paint after long enough I've heard) and around here road salt is a b!tch, get that stuff off asap.

Anything protein based (bug guts, bird crap) will etch your paint if you leave it on too long. On a hot day, too long could be just a couple of hours.

If I do nothing else, I use my quik detailer to removed that stuff....

Oh, and leaving your ride dirty for a year sucks. That is part of the reason why my paint so bad, and that was running it through the 'touchless' car wash place a couple of times just to knock all the road salt off....

At least this thread reminded me to make a quick stop at the touchless wash near my house this morning. Got most of the stuff off, I'll have to go after the grill with honda polish later though to get the bug remainders off.

Mine is getting washed today, too. It has been more than a month since the last wash...usually I wash it a bit more regularly than that, but I've been rather busy and it's been rainy, which makes me much less motivated. It should be nice 'til the middle of next week, so I'm getting it done today. Might even wax it, too, but that might be pushing it a bit time-wise.

there is a product made by Malco called F.A.S.T. and it is a liquid 2 part wax. before you use it, shake the bottle for like 30 seconds....it goes on effortlessly and comes off very easy too. honestly, it is my favorite wax (and ive tried a lot of products). it is hard to find though. it is a real good sized bottle and i believe around 20 bucks. between using it on my truck, and on the hawk, i have probally done 20 wax jobs and still have 1/4 bottle left. only thing is, when you take it off, it leaves some white powder on your car, but it will come off when you drive it the 1st time....honest to god, my fav wax by far. i used it on the hawk in this pic

man, after the ice storms we had a bunch of pot holes and the road crews would throw asphault on the road from the emergency lane...all that hot asphault got on my truck, it was covered in it. first, go to a touchless car wash and pressure wash as much as you can off, atleast get the rest of the truck clean if nothing else....then try some wd40 with a microfiber towel. wd stands for water displacement...wd40 is 100% safe on our paint....it works excellent for debadging ect, it should work....it works 100x's better than that goo gone crap...after, wash all the wd40 off your truck, then i would wax it...dont be afraid to be generous with the wd40

ya, last year I went down a freshly paved road and I got tar spattered all over the side of my truck. I used wd 40 to get all that crap off too. it took 2 cans of it I guess I'll have to do that all again[:@] its going in next week to get detailed so do you think I can wait till then and let them do it?
