Dino,
Are you just at idle alot?  Do you reset the computer at every fill?  Do you let it run in D or are you shifting?  Also, according to the factory manual, you should run 89 as the minimum for the Hemi, not 87.
Check the air in your tires, make sure they are up to snuff.  Do you have a plugged up air cleaner?  Got a bird's nest in there?

Do the obvious things first and try it again.  I have NO stop and go driving where I live, but that stop and go driving kills any hope of good MPG.

Let us know what you found out!

Dunno if your Charger is different, but my 07 owner's manual states a 'minimum range of 87-89 octane fuel.' I t does state the manufacturer recommends 89 octane for optimum performance...I have the same engine in my truck...89 octane thus far, and fine (mediocre driving habits getting about 14+mpg average highway and city combined average during break in period).

Unless it is low quality, and a crappy unleaded blend, I don't see why your gas mileage would be cut (literally) in half.

Keep us posted...and as mentioned, clean air filter, tire pressure, etc. can kill gas mileage quickly.

I have an 06 R/T with 16K miles on it and I log my mileage and gas pruchases by the gallon at every fill.  I figured out my MPG based on the past 2000 miles driven as well as 4000 miles and came up with roughly 19.5 MPG in each case.  This should be very accurate because of the amount of miles figured on versus just checking one tank full.  I drive the car in auto stick mode about 60% of the time and that mileage is about a 50 50 mix of Hwy and city.  I have a lead foot and drive like a nut (my wife's words).  If your mileage is figured properly and you are getting that poor mileage then you have a problem either with the car or your foot, a big problem.  I'd bring it in and complain about the mileage and let them do a diagnostics on the car.  If that doesn't work maybe resetting Hal may help.  You can do that in your driveway, I don't know if that will help but it can't hurt.

just got back from dodge service and there saying they can touch my car because i have a after market navigation system.but they said that my charger mpg is normal for nyc ,stop and go at every ever  light idling for about 30 sec each one. the blocks in brooklyn ny are about 100 to about 200 yards.im usally going about 15-to 30mph.i got about 10 to 11 once i reseted the mpg meter.also the other day i got a chace to some quick highway driving, i reseted the mpg going about 55mph and it went up to 24mpg, but as soon as bumber to bumber traffice hit me after 2 min of glory, the mpg drop down fast to about 15 then when i hit the streets  went down to 11.well tell me what you guys think!i think the real problem is when im idle.

Dino,
Also, try a after market ram air (CAI) system.  I have from K&N series 63.  It lets the engine breathe much easier -- and sounds cool when you hit it!

Also try a full synthetic oil.

Both of these items will help your milage improve, but at a price.   You'll have to decide if it is worth it.
