I mounted my amp under the seat and used a screw to ground it close to the seat belt roller.. there was another ground close to there so I figured it would be decent.

I did, but I probably have a little more room then you do. So for me it my sub went behind the backrest on the single bench seat in the back. The Amp went under the seat.

well i dont like the way dodge did the ext cabs... they should of did it like the rangers and s10's where the jump seats fold down from the sides... so my current project now is to find a way to modify it so i have one jump seat behind the passenger side seat and thats it

I have my amp sitting behind the drivers seat and the ground to the bolt on the back of the drivers seat. I currently have two 12's sitting on my back seat, but looking at making a custom box to fit under the back seat.

see...i thought about the whole under the seat thing...but my wife stands at 5'3" like 120...and has no room when she sits back there. and thats what led me to try and customize the rear so the seat folds up on the side and not up on the rear

I find my rear seat useless. unless theres a kid back there, cause the seat is too small for an adult.

So the original question was finding a good ground, correct? If I'm not mistaken, as long as you are hitting metal, it's grounded (i.e. neg or -). Look at your battery, it's connected to the frame on the Neg or - side of the battery. The entire metal frame and body of your vehicle is a ground. Frame or body (sheet metal) is a ground. Stick the amp where it will fit, screw a ground into metal, and you should be good to go. If there's any question, test it with a meter. I'm not trying to be an ass, just trying to answer the original question. I gathered he wasn't asking WHERE to put it, just where to ground it.

Though if you have a really powerful amp, you may want to route a ground directly back to the battery. Switched of course. If not , you take the chance of draining your battery if you forget to turn it off. Food for thought.
