My local Meineke shop just installed my new EBC brake upgrade. Premium  ceramic brake pads and new Sport rotors . I got fed up with the mushy brakes and the "judder" (that's the correct description of  the washboard type of vibration some of you might be getting under hard braking at 40+ mph). Check out EBC's website. Make up your mind and order from www.buybrakes.com. Find out though if your shop will install carry in parts. Some may not, so check first. Next upgrade is Monroe Sensa-Tracs, front and rear.

Why not just do them yourself? They aren't overly hard to change....

How do you think they perform, relative to the stock rotor/pads ?
Which pads did you get ?

Switching lanes here a little bit. Same topic different axle. Rear brakes, these big ugly drums really do make me sick.

http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/products/detail/724/?make=Dodge&model=Ram+1500+%284WD%29&year=2001

It's the same bolt pattern. Any reason why this wouldn't work? I know it's for a Ram but other than that is there anything else?

Good question. I've always liked disks on the back also. Someone who has access to both a Ram and a Dak could compare them. I suspect that a Dak with an 8.25" rear end is probably the same as a Dak with a 9.25" rear.

I got the premium 7000 series pads and new Sport  rotors. Difference? Like night and day. Brake mush gone, hard braking judder(vibration) gone. Stops like it should.

Exactly what I was thinking. The front rotors are floating rotors, it shouldn;t take you more than 45 min total for the whole project.

omgosh seriously, OK how much was the front brake upgrade? because I may just freakin do it. The other day I was going down a hill for about 5 miles, and had to keep it at 55, everytime i would hold my brakes down for about 10 seconds the truck would shake like no other...disgusting...

Check out www.buybrakes.com. Click on EBC brakes for brake info then EBC rotors.  As a personal preference I went with the premium pads Redstuff Ceramic DP 71738 and  Sport rotors GD 7274. Cost $323.29. These are '05 3.7L applications. You may have other personal preferences-check it out.

For rotors I personally prefer Napa's cross-drilled and slotted rotors, I put those on my integra and they worked excellently.  Got to drive a few other people's with much more expensive ones and you couldn't tell a difference but your wallet definitely can .  I may try upgrading the pads and rotors though, hadn't thought of it.  I can tell you that at least for cars EBC's pads reputation is excellent.

haha, ive bought a lot of shit lately guys, but its slowly winding down...after i went outside to see how much i could see my running/brake lights with the covers on i was very surprised....they can be seen relatively well when the lamps are turned on...i was afraid of being pulled over and given a ticket till just now...i was thinking i should have waited to get the fire&ice bar before putting them on, but i was wrong....i will still get that led bar (and i cant decide if i should pull the brake bulbs out of the tials when i do), but it can wait a few weeks...i definately want to buy some zaino before i go to school and start savin so i have money for the tm leveling kit and blistien shocks (which wont be cheap)...also, id like some overload springs or something for the rears since i tow a lot....were talkin a lot of money now....and i have to start savin more for durring school...and every day i hear "i thought you werent going to mod this truck" or "when are you going to be done" or "youll never get your $ out of it" ect as something new comes in the mail...i jsut tell them how i have saved a lot of money and am not spending it all till im broke, (im not that dumb, in my checking i make sure i always have atleast 800-1k + and in my savings, well i got more than my firehawk when my gpa died (which that may have come out bad, but i would give it all up to have him back, he was my fav, still is), but i dont touch that $ and thats noyb really) and that atleast i spend it on this instead of drinking or smoking ect ect...thats how i make doing this logical to myself...kids my age usually spend money on partying, well, id rather do this and spend time with my gf and if i do go to a party, well i dont drink or anything (not that its wrong, its just my choice)...ok, off rant...but i dont think im going to gamble on this one french....thanks anyway though guys

I agree completely with you there Drew!!!!

Never thought about that one... if my parents keep bugging me about spending money on the truck, I can be like hey, look, at least I'm spending it on something that'll last.... would you rather me go out and buy vodka and start smoking? Cuz I dunno about y'all but.... at about 12 dollars a day up here for 2 packs of smokes (I work at a gas station and sell cigs all day long) it'd take two weeks to save up for some nice things for the truck..
