ok, here are the pic from my homade power wire, it is just shaved down spade conectors and a resistor

also went to the track tonite, ran 11 runs and all of them where faster than my previous 16.502, now my best is 16.446 at 81.46mph

also weighed the truck, with me in it and my tiedowns and jumper cables just how I ran tonite it is 4650 lbs

hp calculator said 201rwhp and 250 crank?

my mods so far is my custom exaust, power wire and modified stock airbox runing at the track with no filter

what exactly does this power wire do. and when they rated the hp on these trucks, was it at the crank? or did they overrate the numbers?

they rate everything at the crank, the power wire makes the computer think that it is cooler air coming into the motor than it really is and advances timing and ups fuel

advances timing and ups fuel....be a little more elaborate....im not the best one to talk to when it comes to engines....in this case, i kinda need to be talked to like a 5 year old...

and how hard/easy is it for one to do this and what is needed?

it makes the computer think the engine temperature is cooler so it makes it perform higher, thus pushing out more horsepower.

What's needed is a resistor (4.7k ohm 1/2 watt minimum according to the other post) and the ability to wire it in on the IAT sensor line (Intake Air Temperature).

so i just splice the resistor into the iat sensor and thats it?

and as far as power gains...what are we talkin...and does it make your engine run at higher rpm to achieve this bc of colder air or what? will it effect mpg?

Well Drew, it doesn't change anything RPM wise...

I have noticed about a 1.3mpg drop in town, but I can't keep my foot out of it.. haha... it adds quite a bit of power, and when you are set at cruising speed, it changes the firing time, to allow for better fuel consumption... but under a heavy foot, I can see where this would decrease mpgs greatly...

Also, I remember on DT the guy who makes these things, said he recommends the use of higher octane fuel...

So I dunno about that one, I'll have to give it a try next fill up..

So I can get the resistor at Radio Shack I know that. But what about a diagram or scematic for people that are gonna fab this up in their garage? What size wire did you use? looks like 18-20?

I think it was 16 or 18 ga, the blue green wire is the one you add it too. I noticed a fuel mileage drop but like frenchy I cant stay off the trottle, never could have.

ok,  I am thinking I would really like 8 hp...  My questions are these...

How long does the wire need to be?
Are we sure of the resistor(4.7k ohm), or is it just a close type of thing?

How are you guys tapping into the pins on the mating connectors? i.e. the pins?

I just took the female conectors and slid them over the pins, the wire can be any leangth I just made it long enough I can relocate down the road when I do intake mods. the resistor was 4.7k ohms at radio shack pack of 5 for .99
