ugh...today started of horrible, I rear-ended some woman at the light down the street from me. I was only going maybe like 1mph or so, had just let off the brakes for a sec and she stopped suddenly when i put my head down for something, and when I looked up i stomped my brakes but was an inch too late. NOTHING was done to my truck, and only like 2 slight scratches were made to her brand new Jeep Commander because of the rubber on the bull guard. Even at that low speed I could have really screwed it up with the license plate holder, etc.. So she's going to get a quote to have it buffed out and I'm going to pay for it...just realllly glad it wasn't worse...but still, :(

Wow, that sucks. I am glad to hear, though, that no major damage was done. Sounds like it was really a no big deal thing, but I'm sure it was a little tense for a few minutes.

Glad to hear that you and the lady weren't hurt, and most of all neither vehicle.

I am glad I have a manual transmission. When I release the brake it usually stays put, even on slight hills.

OMG dude, you have no idea. I've been noticing that ALOT every time I drive my new truck the last few days. It's almost like relearning how to drive all over again. The last 2 1/2 years I've been driving a stick and now in this 08 I notice myself almost rear ending ppl because I'm not used to crushing the brake when I'm trying to stop. With the stick, you'd either pop it out of gear, or downshift, and didn't take nearly as much brake as with an auto because now it's still trying to drive the truck forward even though you're trying to stop it. I always have and always will hate automatics.

Anyway, Jimbo, I still have one of my keys from my 05. The other one was at the body shop with the truck so I assume it went with the truck when they scrapped it. But they never asked me for the other one back so it's sitting here in my desk drawer. If you have a way to get it reprogrammed (I know the dealer can do it) I'd be more than happy to send mine off to you. Let me know.

By the way, good thing for you it ended up like it did, and it was only a minor scrape. I wish I could say the same for my 05.

Oh, Crap. I didnt notice the date on the post when I replied to it. It was on the first page so yeah. Wow.

Racinartist- It is weird dude. I had my headlights taken out over the weekend and I needed some electrical stuff, and I didnt want to drive my truck with no headlights, so I took my wifes automatic ranger to O'Reilly's auto parts about 2 miles away. Holy shit! It felt so weird. no shifting, massivly under powered compared to my truck, and I wasnt the biggest truck on the road any more. Granted it is 4wd, but it is still about the same size as a full size car. I couldnt believe the difference. Plus, she has a Trix the Rabbit sticker on the back window that reads "Silly boys, trucks are for girls." Yeah, can you imagine how I felt. Then, as soon as I get to the store, a semi good lookin chic pulls in next to me in a lifted muddy jeep. I felt like a real winner there. Next time, I will just make my wife drive me there.

hahaha i happened to be on and i saw the title...i was like...isn't that from...yes! lol
yeah I've gotten a new key since, but thanks! And the funny thing is the woman NEVER called me about the accident...she lives right down the street from me too, so sometimes in the morning I'll see her Jeep in the condo parking lot where she lives. Guess the scratches weren't anything to worry about.

I know this is old but it reminded me of the time that I was in my chrysler lebaron at a stop sign with my g/f and we were sitting behind this lady in her honda.  I looked down and all I remember was bam and getting my head whipped back.  I thought I had hit the woman and i was so nervous that I gave her my insurance information without getting hers.  Funny thing is she had backed into me b/c she had her nose too far out into the intersection and she never called me back or anything. Didn't know until she left that she was the one who had hit me because my girlfriend neglected to interrupt me and tell me (because she saw it) when I was screaming various obscene words right after it happened.  I got the brunt of the deal too, good thing my dad was good with a scissor jack and pushed the bumper back out to the point where it looked like I hadn't even hit anything.
