There are many past threads on this, I just finished my research and went with Borla "aggressive" 140125 system just bought it have't put it on yet.  Borla can be bought cheap less than $800 at borladirect.com or look for a group buy at various forums I got mine from a Chrysler 300 forum group buy and paid around $760.

To sum up my findings:  Flowmaster has dreaded drone, Magnaflow has dreaded drone, SLP is just plain loud, Corsa no Drone but expensive over $1000, Zoomers no drone again expensive over $1000, Borla has two systems depending how loud you want it both have been reported to have no drone by guys who are running them.  Good luck, I'll let you know when mine goes on.

Stud,
We beat this subject to death about a year ago, but since you are new, here were the basic findings: how LOUD can you stand?  Changing the almost perfect stock exhuast is a personal choice and one you need to make on your own; not to say we all will post our opinions!  We all love our cars with Flowmaster 40s or Corsa or Borla or Magnaflows or Loudmouths or, or, but the point is they ALL are great sounding... UNTIL, the MDS kicks in.  Then prepare for a head pounding drone in the cabin of the car you'll HATE after a few miles.  I like a loud, ground pounder, like anyone, but the MDS drone, I couldn't get past.  Turning up the radio, or putting on hundreds of dollars of noise deadening material just wasn't for me.

Judging by your handle, Jon the Stud, I assume you are a young guy that likes it loud anyway... so, go for it!  For me, a guy that's gone through all this, I like a quieter car that can bark, but not drive me out of it.

Besides, remember this:  our Hemi 5.7 is a small block 350, not a big block ground pounder... you can not make a new Hemi sound like the old 426 Hemi or 440s no matter what you do: the cubes (that made all that air flow) just aren't there.

Good luck on your choice and let us know what you decide.

We're listening .

Thanks for the responses.  And mnboy I really appreciate your post...I'm actually in my 30's with a young daughter, so I really don't want all that cabin noise...this is my first "real" car and I want to get it to peak performance without breaking the bank. I'm looking for that growl that says "here he comes again".  I'll let you know what I decide.

Thanks again

Mr. Stud

I just installed (three days ago) the Borla 140125 aggressive system and think it is great but a bit loud.  Very little drone if any at all but again the car is a little loud for my taste.  Borla makes a quiter system for the R/T Borla model 140112 and it is cheaper too, take a look at that because Borla really makes a nice system.  I will say this though, a noticable difference in power, it gets attention when you get on it and it does sound great.  Lastly the tips are really big, 5" diameter a little big for my taste the quiter system has smaller tips I believe.  I am thinking of modifying the system by taking a glass pack muffler cutting it in half and installing one half on each side and welding on a new set of tips.  I am going to ride around on it the way it is for a while then maybe modify it if I don't get used to it.  Good luck.

Just curious on the drone and cabin noise on the highway.  What's your opinion on the flowmaster?

byebyeblue - Honestly after reading all the previous posts about the drone I was worried, but I haven't really even noticed it yet.......the only time I can hear it (and only barely) is if I have all the windows up and the radio off.  Nothing like what I expected.  The cabin noise isn't much different than stock either.  All-in-all I love the Flowmaster...it gives me the sound and performace I wanted without all the cabin noise I expected.

I decided to stay with the system as it is with the exception of changing the diameter of the tips down to a 3.5 inch or maybe 4 inch.  It sounds to good to mess with, I looked at resonator tips but was swayed away from them by a guy at a local speed shop.  Anybody every use those type of tips.  Pace setter has them and Hedman too, I am told it won't change the loudness but will alter the tone.

I installed the whole catback...it came with Super 40's and some sweet 4" tips.....I don't know why they don't put bigger and nicer looking tips on from the factory.....my mango looks like a muscle car should now!

Flowmaster does make good stuff.  Glad to hear it is working and not droning you out.  Food for thought!
Of course you're right, the 4" would be quieter than the 5" tips...
