Just purchased Superchips Flashpaq Programmer.  I was reading the installation guide and am wandering what all the mumbo jumbo means.  Paddle Shift, Auto Kickout, WOT Shifting, Hold Gear, etc...  What setting is the best?: Sport, performance, or go custom.  Basically, I want to be able to go fast...please advise.

I use the following custom tune:
91 octane
Paddle Shift / Hold Gear
Reduced Torque Mgmt.
Raise the speed limiter 170 <= never been there but why not

I use either Sport Tune or
Custom  with 87 octane,
Paddle shift  / auto kick out
Reduced Torq management
Rev limiter at 5800
Raised speed limit to 200 (Nice even # I can dream can't I)

There is a noticable difference in power if you use the 91 octane setting but the increase in fuel cost brought me back to 87 after I was done playing with it.  I  don't know for sure but I think my custom tune is probably the same as the sport tune, I can't tell the difference.  Don't waist your time with the "raise the Rev limiter" option it brings your engine to the top governed RPM and does this weird bouncing thing (scared me to death) it gives you a couple hundred more RPM but what's the point at that rpm.  Have fun and try them all!

Hardcharger,
I, too, am a brand new Superchips owner.  MangoinTX got me hooked after posting his findings with his.  I unhooked my Jet 2 chip, reprogrammed my ECU and went out to play.  Wow.  I use 91 octane fuel anyway, so I programmed the rev limiter to 6,200, reduce torque management, raised tranny shift points, and finally just cause I could, raised the speed limiter to 170, even though it's much faster than my tires, or me, want, or could, go.  I'll change it to 65 when I let my kids borrow the car ...  (I know you can't, but the thought just hit me).  Firing up the engine, the motor didn't idle as smooth as it did, and taking it out, it didn't take hardly any accelerator pressure to let you know something has changed... as I got on the open road, I let her go and WOW! the car leaped forward quickly with the engine revving smoothly to 6,000 in first, 6,200 in second, 6,200 in third, then I let her settle down in fouth.  I need to go to the track to report findings, but the SC is MUCH healthier than the Jet 2 chip, I can tell the difference just in the seat of the pants, tachometer, and how much quicker the car's speedometer gained. You could hear the tappets getting busy in the 6,000 range, but I remember from the old days, it was fine with the proper oil to do this.  The transmission shifted keeping the RPMs in a much better power band range and keeped the car from it's usual third gear slump -- it just kept revving and pulling!  I think if you put on shorty headers (midrange stong) and higher flow cats and still use the open suitcase to keep noise down, this may be the trick to reaching the 5.7's potential of a 4,000 pound hot rod.  Of course the rest of the job gets very expensive after this (cam, head work) but I didn't want to loose the MDS with it's ability to give better milage.  Dave, our Charger moderator, keeps insisting he gets better milage with the 91 tune than he did with the Jet 2 chip -- so I'm going to see what happens.  Overall, it is a great expierence so far, and looking to see where to go from here... Mango is having good luck with his NOS with the SC... when he said it "kicked him in the gut" when he hit it with the SC and N2O I am a firm believer.  Just the SC was a really eye opener!
Like they say... "stay tuned".

I'm using the pre-programmed performance tune right now and do notice a big difference.  The car jumps on it quicker and is much smoother without almost no hesitation.  It's almost as if the car was brand new. I'll probably try some custom tunes later.  I do notice a noticable gain in MPG with 91 octane performance tune.  It may be all in my head though.  All we have around here is 87, 89, and 93 octane gasoline.  No 91 so I'm settling with the 93 octane.  I appreciate all of ya'll's help, I guess I'll just need to play with it myself to get a better feel of its potential.  I was wondering about the pre-programmed tunes or any of the other tunes as well as the custom tunes I come up with: Are they okay to use in automatic driving mode going long distances or should I use the autostick feature?  Thanks again.

Hardcharger,
Sorry, I don't know myself -- I haven't had my SC very long (one week).  Maybe Mango or Dave can help.  Repost on the regular Charger area and see what they say.

I believe Dave already did that and said he didn't notice much when he took off the Jet chip

What is / "Hold Gear" setting?  Does this prevent the transmission from shifting to the next gear automaticly when a high RPM is obtained?

One if the settings in the hold you in the gear until you use the autostick.  This requires you to shift.  I was out at the track a few month ago and ended up and didn't like how it shifted.  It seemed to hang at the high RPMs, it was like I was shifting twice to move one gear or somtimes bumped it and it dropped out of autostick mode.  I turned that crap.

I tuned it to raise the speed, octain, and reduce torque management and left most everthing else alone.

Yes it will hit the rev limiter if you don't auto stick bump in time.

1st-2nd I bump out around 5800
2nd-3rd I bump out around 6000

It hits the rev limiter hard if I go above 6000.

I haven't dyno'd mine yet, but I was at a dyno day at ProMotion Tuning one day where there was a 5.7 with just intake, exhaust, and superchips.  He did a back to back dyno test and gained I think it was 15whp just going to the 91 tune!  I'm waiting till I get more mods to dyno mine, though with the dyno special they have going on ($35 for 3 pulls!), it's hard to resist doing a test on mine just to see what the superchips gains on a otherwise stock car.

Welcome to the forum Mopar or No Car <= like the screen name

Good idea, base line so you know what the mods do for you. If you can post up the results and note what type of dyno it is. Stock should come in around 290-300 HP.
