I was looking online and found a website: www.SuperchargersOnline.com , they advertise two different manufacturers of superchargers for the 5.7L Hemis: an ASM supercharger and GS Motorsports supercharger.  What would something like that do to my engine?  Also, I saw an STS Turbo on a 5.7L Charger.  What would that do as well?  Thanks for your help as my knowledge of the subject is well under par.

No turbos are on the market yet and everyone that has put a supercharger on their 5.7 has blown up. GSM has the biggest name for blowing apart 5.7's with superchargers.

In my opinion don't go there until someone gets it going properly and has several working over time.

So no go with the supercharger, eh?  Going to frag my engine? Look up Squires Turbo Systems.  They have a universal remote mounted turbo.  Know anything about that thing?  Thanks.

Hardcharger,

I have thought about GS's supercharger ever since I bought my Daytona in January 2006.  Wow, 123 RWHP out of the box for $5,600 sounds great.  But, I'm hearing horror stories about a continuous 6 PSI to the engine.  Now, for only $600+, you can get a Zex NOS kit for 100 HP and it only comes on when you want it...

Mango is running Zex 100 shot and a Superchips programmer and tells us it's the way to go.  From what I have read about the subject, I'd use N2O over supercharging.

Do what you will, but dollar for dollar, a NOS is the way to go.

I have an 07 chrysler 300c 5.7 that I just got supercharged it has a paxton supercharger on it and I upgraded the cooling system , to that person who said that 5.7 hemi's when they get supercharged  blow up is full of crap!!! this is my second supercharged 5.7 MDS and it is just fine and gsm is probally the most over priced place to buy a supercharger. Paxton is by far the best supercharger to put on a mds hemi

Akumal,
Who did the work on your supercharger?  Paxton certainly is a good brand, supplying them for factory Fords for years.  What pressure are you running?  How many miles on the car?  You said you're on your second supercharger, what happened to the first?  Do you use synthetic oil?  How noisy is it?  Yes, GSM seems expensive.

Sorry for all the questions!

akumal,

are you using the GSM motorsports supercharger with Paxton's Novi 1200 head unit or are you just using the head unit with your own set up?

I think you should tone down your response a little. Those people that tried to supercharge unsuccessfully sank several K (10-13) into those setups. I assure you I'm not "full of crap"   There is a track record on the 5.7s blowing up where have you been??? One person also hardened his lower end, forged crank/pistons and it also blew.  These people are not full of crap.

It seems you have the only running supercharger so there are a lot of questions.
How long has it been running the Paxton? At what what PSI? Who tuned it?

If you know of more people running superchargers on 5.7 MDS setups please post up threads we can read up on, surely their out there.  I can post up serveral threads (12+) on the ones blowing up if still think I'm blowing smoke up you A$$.

<edit> Here one right in your backyard and there are many more 5.7s that have blown up, none have survived to date that have proved it: http://www.300cforums.com/forums/performance-modifications/27019-my-supercharged-srt8-i-hoped-i-wouldnt-have-join.html

like I said this is my second supercharged 300c my first one was an 05 with the paxton 1500 supercharger and it had about 35,000 miles when I weraked it. The 300c I have now is an 07 with 3,200 miles on it and it runs like a top. The main reason some supercharged 5.7's are blowing is because people are being cheap and stupid and NOT upgradeing the cooling system and you MUST upgrade the cooling system. No my C is not very noisy because I kept the factory exhaust on it I still wanted that 300c classeynes sound. This 07 has an paxton supercharger on it to with a custom boost and head it went from 340hp to 580hp and it still gets about 22 to 25 MPG. I belong to a supercharged mds hemi club with about 80 other supercharged hemi's most of them are paxton supercharged and some are other I have heard of a few haveing issues but not that many, but if you go cheap on it it will break!!! If you want I will post pictures and I dont mean to seem rude but the person who said all supercharged mds 5.7's is FULL OF CRAP!!! And does not know what he is talking about he has not owned two like I have probally not even one. Once again if they do blow it is because they went cheap on it and also did not upgrade the cooling system

It is worthwhile to look over the specs on the turbo and non-turbo
PT Cruiser.  The differences show what Chrysler Engineering think
need to be changed on an engine running boost.

akumal, my statement that "no 5.7 mds super charged hemis have survived" comes from dabling with the newer MDS 5.7 for 2 years and you are the first to tout a working solution.  There is no need or gain from saying I'm full of crap, please stay to the topic of this thread.

What "supercharged mds hemi club" do you speak of? If there is a online forum for this club, please provide a link.

You didn't mention what psi your running or who tuned your setup. A few pics of your setup and scan of your dyno(s) would be appreciated.

<edit> Hardcharger - As you can see akumal has a real answer to this threads topic, hopefully details will be revealed.

Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking.  With the amount of readers between this forum and other Dodge friendly forums, I am sure that if their were 80 supercharged 5.7 liter hemi's, we would know about them.  Besides 580 HP would disentigrate the tranny.  I will have to say without more supporting evidence that the BS meter, is beyond pegged.  Another wild internet claim, by someone trying to "stir it up".

Just ignore them.

LOL you beat me to it.

I was going to give akumal a full week to post up supporting evidence of 80 supercharged 5.7 LXes but I agree IXLR8... that's BS ... The word of a supercharged 5.7 LX running correctly would be big news on every LX forum.

akumal, may the flees of a thousand camels infest your arm pits

Unless akumal can walk on water I don't see him supercharging a 5.7 without blowing it up.  I'm no expert on the engine but everything I've seen on the supercharged 5.7 Hemis has been real bad, at least a little bit, about half a cup.
