I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while. The only reason is because we seem to get the same questions a lot. I have no problems, but I feel that it's a little repetative. On top of that, it'll be easier to maintain and easier for people to look up. I want to encourage anyone and everyone to participate in this. There are a lot of creative people on this site and some very frugal ones too. Keep this thread as a MOD TALK ONLY!! No side bar conversations or Frenchy and I will delete that piece of conversation. So let me start this thread off with what I have and know: The first thing that I put into my truck is the Cold Air Intake (CAI). This allows your truck to pull in more air, which will make it burn more efficiently and it gives it a more of a throaty sound ($210.00 plus $54.00 for a different filter). I have a Air Aid intake with a TruFlo filter (foam vs gauze). You can gain up to 10 hp at the wheels and about the same for torque. K&N is a little more pricey, but they've been around the longest. To compliment the CAI with lower restrictive air going out, I have a CatBack exhaust split sides that I had custom made. It was much cheaper and just as effective as a kit. I spent less than $400.00 with the MagnaFlow Muffler and two chrome tips. Has a nice rumble, but not too loud. I had one of the resonators taken out and kept one in. The resonators do not restrict the air flow out. It's just a straight thru pipe with aluminum wrapped around it. I double checked when I had the exhaust put on. That there between the two probably gave me up to 20 hp, if you go by the ratings that everyone puts out. I don't know. I had my truck Dyno'd in October and my truck was rated at 168 rwhp (I have AWD and the ratings will be lower than rear wheel drive trucks) and 219 lbs of tq. Not bad, but I forgot to include my Stage I JetChip. Currently, the Jet Chip is the only thing that will do a minor reprogram of the ECU. I had a Stage I, and it pretty much gave me a few more HP. One site that I saw said that it adds 18 hp to the 4.7L. That might be at the crank, not at the wheels. The cost for that was about $239.00 at Summit Racing. I ended up getting the Stage II for $180.00 from a private seller. Not sure the HP/TQ rating. Very noticeable. To go with the the Stage II, I bought a 180 degree thermostat (t-stat). This will help your truck run lower temps under the hood. I spent $35.00 through JetChips, but you can get it cheaper at Napa for around $10.00. The last engine mod I have is the Throttle Body (TB). I paid $260.00 through Fastman.com. Our trucks come with a 68mm opening which narrows down to a 65mm in the back. Dan, the owner of Fastman, will tell you to get the 68.5mm for best performance. Anything bigger will take away your low end torque, unless you have a forced air induction (supercharger or turbo). According to Dan, he has heard of a 10/10 rating at the wheels gain and maybe two more miles to MPGs. He also sells Cams. I believe he said 206/212 ($700.00). This will give you more power and torque. SuperDak05 is so far the only one I know of that has put in a set, but I think he bought his from KRC Performance. When you do that, you're going to want to have the ECU reprogrammed to match the cams. This will cost you about $400.00. So you're looking at about $1500.00 to include having someone else put them in for you. Not cheap. For my cosmetics, I haven't been too creative yet. I've added a set of bedstripes, a tri-fold tonneau cover and I tinted the two front windows to match my rears; chrome bug deflector, gas door, and mesh grille. That's pretty much it. I'll be adding more and I hope those of you who want to add stuff take advantage of this thread. Good Luck. Todd I forgot to mention, POST PICS so we can see some progress and what they look like.

Cosmetics-wise I installed the Trailmaster 2" Leveling Kit which raises the front end 2" placing it level with the rear. It was roughly $90 from Auto-Anything and makes a very noticeable difference in the look of the truck. One thing of note with this kit is it can be installed two ways. It originally shipped with extra bolts and hardware and instructions to install the spacers above the strut (inbetween the top of the strut and the mount on the truck). Trailmaster has since changed the instructions and now recommends installing the spacers inbetween the spring and the top plate of the strut (preloading the spring), the bolts and extra hardware are not used. The new instructions are on their website in the support section, the old way is thought to cause problems on 4x4's.

I have done a few things, mainly CAI, Exhaust, Chip and 180 Stat. I have added a soft cover and custom bed stripes. (the only ones like them on DF. :) ) I have also painted my wheels, tinted my windows, added another set of fog lights, and painted my brake calipers/drums.

New guy here, just got a 07 Dak, new off the lot. SO fat, i have just removed the stock 3 foot muffler. Mine is the FlexFuel 4.7, so only has the rear Resonator. I am just running the Cat and Res. SOunds pretty good. Not fully broke in yet, so not sure of any power increases. I will be putting a Flowmaster, or Spintech muffler in, not sure which, and ditching the Resonator. Also, a CAI is on the way, Metal tube one. I will be Ceramic coating the tube, to keep the intake charge that much cooler.

ORIGINAL: billcat does it matter what order to add these mods? or should i say do yall recomend? No it doesn't. You do have to put the CAI and the exhaust in before you add the Stage II JetChip. Stage II is for modified engines where the Stage I is for minor bolt ons. If you could add prices to your mods, please do. This will give the newer guys and the not so experienced an idea as to what they're looking at spending.

Mine came with one too, but I haven't installed mine either. I think it stays on. EricEmery could answer that.

Yes, it stays on, when you remove the stock 'stat there will be a little gasket inside... you remove the old one, replace with this one. :-)

yeah, you need a gasket still... the jet stat has a good one. I just got a new one from napa when I got my stat... only cost me a buck I think.
