Default Running boards or tonneau

Hello all.

I just had Mopar molded fiberglass running boards and a Mopar
fiberglass tonneau cover installed on my '04 Ram 1500 Laramie QC.
It could be the glue I've been sniffing (I've been meaning to cut
down), but on the drive home tonight, I swear I have a lot more wind
noise coming from the passenger's side rear door. I crawled
around, over and under the truck looking for any new holes or hanging
brackets, but the left and right side look identical. There's a
VERY small gap between the front wheel well and the leading edge of the
running board on the passenger's side that doesn't exist on the
driver's side.

Has anyone had the Mopar running boards installed and experienced
higher than normal wind noise? Other than hanging from under my
truck at speed, Indiana Jones style, does anyone have any tricks to
isolate wind noise on a Ram 1500?

Thanks!

- Dave

ps. Both the running boards and tonneau look <span style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline; font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Su-weet</span>!

This may have just been my imagination. I went for a longer
highway drive today and the wind noise seems to be equal on both
sides. I can't compare the wind noise before and after the
operation, so I'll just have to be content with the way it sounds.

A Rammstein CD playing in the 7-speaker Infinity sound system and a Borla cat back should take care of the extra noise anyway.

i haven't heard of road noise before, but that borla should
definitely take care of that if the cd doesn't.

Actually, tonight I had wifey sit in the back seat while we drove back
from a restaurant. Her opinion is that the sound is coming from
around the edges of the rear window. Our running theory now is
that the fiberglass tonneau cover has somehow changed the dynamic of
the air flowing over the truck. Now, instead of a backdraft at
the rear window (typical of any open truck bed), there's a partial
vacuum caused by the wind smoothly gliding over the roof and across the
smooth tonneau.

It still looks like I have to live with it, but it's an interesting
development just the same. Any fluid dynamics engineers out there
care to do a finite element analysis on my '04 Ram QC???
