I have a constant tick/clicking noise. It never stops and occurs at ALL speeds. Faster rpm faster the Tick I am thinking it is the timing chain could this be right? Also the engine feels like it has NO power. When I have it going I don't feel anymore power until it kicks down.

Sound like an exhaust leak. I had an older Monte that clicked/ticked from the headers when the bolt was coming loose.

i have the same type of constant ticking noise too and had my mechanic check it out he said it was the evap control valve tapping nothing wrong just a noisy selanoid(spl?). However i dont have a loss of power so im not sure about yours.

I don't think it's leaking. It has always leaked the exhaust and I just had it welded up and the noise still occurs. I don;t think the exhaust clamps at the top are coming loose it seems more like A Valve tick. It occurs more and less depending on the Gas i give it which is why im thinking timing do you think that would happen?

touch your valve covers and see if its a lifter.. you can feel it hitting, make sure you do it when you first start it.. not after it been running for 30 min lol...

could have a bad lifter, also an exhuast leak would do the same thing if you gave it more gas.. higher rpm the faster the lifter moves along with the exhuast.. causing a faster/louder ticking..

im not sure on the timing chain.. ive never had a problem with one.

shouldn't I take the covers off than do that? It said in the manual that I would feel a vibration. Also could be the valve not completly seating.

Well i went and listened to the engine. I felt a tap on the passanger side but didn't hear it that much. I did find a leak in the TB on Pasanger side too. But I also did notice the Tick was louder on the drivers side. But the problem is i didn't not feel the tick on that side. It sounds like it might be the timing chain it is a fairly fast tick. like tic-tic-tic-tic about once or twice a second. It seems louder on the drivers side though Couldn't pin point the location but the seemed to be the same loudness at wheel well as at height about half the height of the hood when it's up. Any ideas? Think timing chain, could explain my no power if the valves are off by a tiny bit...?

if the sound is comming directly from the engine, it's probably a lifter or rocker problem. you might have a loose exhaust manifold bolt, that would cause a loss of power. sometimes they rust or just snap off.

It's Been ticking ever since I got the truck and I removed The y-pipe from the headers and new bolts were put in. But I will have to see I will take the cover off on that side and see if It gets louder or quieter.
